We are an extension of your high school, offering technical training from industry professionals in more than a dozen career fields.

New Market Skills Center opened in 1986 as an educational venture between local school districts and is a public school offering technical training for high school students. New Market is a consortium of 10 districts including, Centralia, North Thurston, Oakville, Olympia, Rainier, Rochester, Shelton, Tenino, Tumwater, and Yelm. The vision is to prepare students for the workforce by offering the opportunity to be trained in technical career areas too expensive for a single district to fund. Students are transported to New Market from their home high schools. They spend half their day at the sending school and half at the skills center.

Celebrating 40 years of community and education on our campus!

This week we celebrated with a, "Friends of New Market" breakfast, bringing together staff and special guests to honor four decades of excellence.
A huge thank you to our incredible Culinary Arts students, who prepared and served a delicious meal for everyone!
During the event, our director, Matt Ishler, highlighted the major milestones we've reached and shared an exciting look at the goals ahead. We were also honored to welcome Washington State Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal, who shared encouraging words with our guests.
Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey over the last 40 years. Keep an eye on our website for more 40th Anniversary photos, videos, and events!
