Today it was time for our Avance Latinx group to do a fundraiser to 🌼💀 Celebrate Día de los Mu***os, The Day of the Dead. 💀🌼Día de los Mu***os is a multi-day Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. Our Avance Latinx Club sold things like delicious tamales, pozale, churros, and aqua fresca. The money will be raised for the colorful stoles kids in Avance Latinx wear for graduation. See less

Our Latinos Unidos Club held a wonderul bake sale today to 🌼💀 Celebrate Día de los Mu***os, The Day of the Dead. 💀🌼Día de los Mu***os is a multi-day Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion and Spanish culture, the holiday dates back some 3,000 years and is celebrated each year from October 31-November 2. Latinos Unidos sold baked goods including conchas, pan de mu**to, champurrado 🥮🌰 and horchata, similar to hot chocolate, to raise money 💰for the Club's Leadership Summit in April.

🎨Lots of our teachers this semester are using art and learning about artists as a vehicle for writing prompts, discussion, teaching history, and more. Art Teacher Ms. Parker decided to come up with a fun lesson. In the gallery, there are more than 100 works of Art currently made by our Art Foundations students. Students were given four "awards" 🏅to hand out to four projects that they thought showed exemplary technical skill (Develop Craft), creative and inventive use of materials (Stretch and Explore), original ideas and personal narrative (Express), and sparked a personal connection to the viewer (Honorable Mention.) Students were given their four 'award' slips of paper and we spent about 20 minutes looking at the pieces and wrote feedback to their chosen artist and the artists will be given the feedback.

💚🧠❤️‍🩹🫂🧘Our Raise Your Voice Club held a super fun bakesale Wednesday 🍪🧁🥮🥧during the lunch hour. Raise Your Voice is a student led club for middle and high schoolers that raises mental health awareness. Thank you to School Social Worker Teresa Nicholas for advising this important group.
