Today, after months of thoughtful design and planning, we had the privilege of installing a beautiful new challenge coin display case in our main lobby. The display case was generously donated by Volunteers Love Serving Veterans, for which we are deeply thankful. This gift is more than wood and glass - it’s a tribute to the stories, sacrifices, and camaraderie etched into each coin. Challenge coins carry the weight of missions completed, friendships forged, and milestones achieved. Our special new display case gives these symbols-of-honor a place where they will be proudly displayed and remembered for generations.

We are grateful to Jerry Cummins for proposing the idea of installing a challenge coin display case at WWVH. Mr. Cummins is a U.S. Navy veteran. He has served as a member of Washington’s Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee and is a long-time supporter of Walla Walla's Veteran community and public service. We appreciate his ongoing support of the Walla Walla Veterans Home.

“Every coin tells a story. Every story deserves to be seen.”

🤠 WWVH residents cowboy’d up all week for the Walla Walla Fair, Parade, and Rodeo this year. With over 30 residents attending, everyone who wanted (and was able) to go got to experience what our cool country fair had to offer. 🐎 🐐 🐄 🐓 🐖 🐇 🎡 🐑🌻🥨🍦🎸🍭💃 🪕🎵🍿 🥧 The week kicked off in style with 5 members of the infamous WWVH scooter club driving behind our bus and handing out candy in the Walla Walla Fair & Frontier Days parade. Lots of nostalgia and fun was had by all.

Today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, we pause to honor and remember the courage of our former prisoners of war, the service members who never made it home, and all families who still carry the heavy burden of uncertainty. Behind every name and every empty chair is an enduring promise: You are not forgotten.

We remember. We honor.
We will never forget.
