Subj: This Thursday 9/17: City meeting on Newell bike lane project
The Walnut Creek Transportation Commission is meeting this Thursday, Sept 17 at 6pm at City Hall to discuss a bike lane project on Newell, running from the Parkmead entrance to Broadway. Below are links to the meeting agenda and a map of the full plan. This project could affect vehicle and bike traffic entering and leaving the neighborhood.

What's in the plan?
Phase 1: Changes to the Newell / Broadway intersection, including a diagonal crossing for the Iron Horse Trail.
Phase 2: Changes to Newell from Broadway to the 680 overpass (Parkmead entrance), including:
• A protected bike lane in both directions
• Removal of one travel lane in both directions from S Main to Capwell St (halfway between Main and Broadway)
•Removal of parking under the 680 overpass
How could this affect the neighborhood?
• Changes to traffic flow into and out of Parkmead and the surrounding area
• Better bike access to and from downtown and the Iron Horse Trail
