Last week, I attended the Mequon-Thiensville Chamber of Commerce's Celebrate Our Community Award Dinner and presented Congressional commendations to this year's winners.

Congratulations to this year's honorees for their contributions to the community. Strong local businesses and dedicated community leaders are essential to keeping Wisconsin's communities thriving. Thank you to the Chamber for recognizing the people who make southeastern Wisconsin a great place to live and work.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the Fond du Lac County Veterans and Community Resources Expo and stopped by my booth to say hello! It was great to connect with local veterans, service members, and their families.

First Responders Day is an opportunity to recognize the men and women across Wisconsin who answer the call when their neighbors need them most. Our firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and other first responders run toward danger, work around the clock, and put the safety of their communities first.

We owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude for their courage, sacrifice, and service to Wisconsin.

It was great to join the Central Wisconsin Community Action Council in celebrating 60 years of service. Since 1966, CWCAC has helped individuals and families across central Wisconsin access resources for housing, food, energy assistance, and financial stability. Congratulations to the entire team on this milestone and thank you for six decades of work helping Wisconsin communities thrive.

Border security doesn't stop at the federal level. States and local communities are often on the front lines of illegal immigration and drug trafficking.

The Working Families Tax Cuts Act provides $10 billion for the State Border Security Reinforcement Fund and $450 million for Operation Stonegarden to strengthen cooperation between federal, state, local, and Tribal law enforcement.

This is about giving communities the tools they need to keep their residents safe.
