We're searching for senators to pass Charlotte's bill this Halloween! 🔍

The Charlotte Woodward Organ Transplant Discrimination Prevention Act would prohibit discrimination based solely on disability in the organ transplantation process and provide additional recourse to people with Down syndrome and other disabilities should they experience discrimination.

Use our action alert to urge your senators to support Charlotte's bill when it goes before the full Senate at https://ndss.quorum.us/campaign/111217/

- Meet Ruben!

“My name is Ruben Reuter, and I want to find acting roles that challenge preconceptions of people with Down syndrome. That’s why I’m excited to be involved with a new film called Bottled Up, because the character gets up to all sorts of adventures. It’s a very exciting role for me!

I wish people knew that Down syndrome is not a problem. It’s a natural occurrence that’s been around forever. We’ve always been here and deserve the same rights as everyone else. A big obstacle is people having low expectations of you because you have Down syndrome. They make assumptions about what you can and cannot do. I’d say give us more opportunities, and we will surprise you!

I was nine years old on The Dumping Ground, the UK’s favourite children’s TV show, as a returning character, Finn Mclaine, and I won a Royal Television Society Award for best performance as Finn. I’ve danced a duet with Northern Ballet at the Royal Opera House in London, played Percival in Lord of the Flies at Chichester Festival Theatre, and am a Special Olympics aquatics gold medal winner at the national level. I work for Channel 4 News on their special reports – I am the UK’s first learning disabled news reporter. I can also trash my dad at table tennis!

People with Down syndrome have loads to give if they are given the chance. We never stop learning.”
