🚶‍♀️🚗 Stay Alert. Stay Aware. Stay Safe!

Whether you're behind the wheel, walking across campus, or riding an e-scooter, safety starts with paying attention to your surroundings. A moment of distraction can have serious consequences. Keep your eyes up, put your phone down, and always be mindful of those sharing the road.

Heads Up, Phones Down! 💚💛

WMPD Employee of the Quarter

With immense pride, I’m writing to share the news about our inaugural WMPD Employee of the Quarter! This first award will go to Officer Khadejah “KJ” Jackson. KJ received multiple nominations, citing phrases such as:

•Facilitating meaningful connections
•Exhibiting personal and professional growth
•Embodying our core values
•Building bridges through events, outreach, and
socials
•Networking
•Astonishing community engagement
•A born leader
•Friendly and accommodating

KJ has also secured grants for community engagement and outreach, served as a valued and active member of the Chief’s Advisory Committee, and done an amazing job assisting Kristen with all things Risk Management. Despite being in a temporary assignment that doesn’t include police functions, she’s managed to have a huge positive impact on our community! Please congratulate her and share with others.

Fraternity/Sorority Life is excited to have our annual Trick or Treat on the Row on Tuesday, October 27th, 5:30-7:00pm!
Our fraternities and sororities will be out on the fraternity houses and the FSL Community Building on Ukrop Way and Yates Drive to pass out candy to members of the Williamsburg community.
We hope any W&M families will get in the Halloween spirit and join us—and get lots of candy, of course!

And as always, please travel slowly and safely throughout campus!

🦆 If You Can Stop for Ducks, You Can Stop for Pedestrians! 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

We all know to slow down and stop when ducks are crossing the road, but let's make sure we're showing that same awareness for pedestrians!

The William & Mary Police Department reminds all drivers to stay alert, slow down, and watch for pedestrians, especially in high-traffic areas and near crosswalks. Taking a few extra seconds to stop and allow someone to cross safely can make all the difference.

Heads Up, Phones Down! Let's work together to keep our William & Mary community safe! 💚💛

Yesterday, members of William & Mary’s Division of Public Safety, including AVP for Public Safety Cliff Everton, Emergency Manager Justin Weston, and Deputy Chief Robert Cottrell, attended the first-ever Virginia Unified Readiness Summit, hosted by Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger.

The summit brought together public safety and emergency management professionals from across the Commonwealth to share experiences, strengthen collaboration, and explore strategies to enhance emergency preparedness, response efforts, and community safety.

Opportunities like the Unified Readiness Summit strengthen valuable partnerships, encourage the exchange of knowledge and ideas, and support our continued commitment to keeping the William & Mary community safe, prepared, and resilient.
