October is designated as Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to unite advocates nationwide in the effort to eliminate domestic violence.
Tonight, members of the community, YWCA staff, board members, and law enforcement attended the YWCA’s annual Purple Thursday and Vigil of Hope and Remembrance.
This poignant event allows us to pause and honor those whose lives were lost too soon while also drawing attention to domestic violence in our community. Although we may not know every name, we stand together in their memory. We remember those whose lives were cut short far too early, holding onto the hope that our collective commitment and determination will guide us toward a world free from domestic violence.
If you are a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, or another violent crime, please walk into the YWCA Northcentral PA or call to speak to our advocates on our 24/7 Crisis Hotline: 1-800-326-8483.
Services are available to victims of all ages and genders. All YWCA services are free and
confidential. The YWCA Northcentral PA is located at 815 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA.
