Today, on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we honor the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe — the “People of the Falling Star” — and celebrate their enduring history, culture, traditions, and contributions to southeastern North Carolina.

As we recognize Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we encourage our community to take time to learn about the Waccamaw Siouan people, their heritage, and their continued presence and impact in our region.

Learn directly from the Waccamaw Siouan Tribe and explore their history, programs, and community at waccamaw-siouan.org.
