Damaris Timothy Grant, 46, was sentenced to life in prison following his conviction on 20 s*x crime charges, including eight counts of R**e. Grant was sentenced to 2 consecutive life sentences for two counts of r**e and will spend at least 25 years in prison for six counts of R**e, four counts of S*xual Battery, three counts of Pandering S*xually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor or Impaired Person and five counts of Endangering Children. Mahoning County Common Pleas Court Judge Anthony Donofrio sentenced Grant. Assistant Prosecutors Joseph Suszczynski and Brad Gessner successfully prosecuted this case.

The jury found Grant guilty after a four-day trial in September. Grant was found guilty of eight counts of R**e, four counts of S*xual Battery, three counts of Pandering S*xually-Oriented Matter Involving a Minor or Impaired Person, and five counts of Endangering Children.

In 2023, a minor came forward to a nurse practitioner at Akron Children’s Hospital accusing Grant of s*xual assault. That nurse practitioner contacted the Children Services Board and the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office, informing them of the s*xual assault allegations. The minor stated that they had lived with Grant for quite some time and that he had been s*xually assaulting them since they were 12-years-old. During an investigation, police uncovered several n**e photos of the minor on an app connected to Grant’s phone. Following the investigation Grant was arrested and charged for his crimes. The indictment following the arrest listed 20 counts, all of which were s*x crimes.

Jeremiah Rodriguez, 32, was sentenced Wednesday morning to seven to 10½ years in prison after pleading guilty to one count of pandering s*xually oriented matter involving a minor or impaired person and one count of gross s*xual imposition. The sentence will run concurrently with the life sentence Rodriguez is serving for child r**e convictions in Trumbull County.

In the Mahoning County case, Rodriguez was designated a Tier II s*x offender, requiring him to register his address every six months for 25 years following his release from prison.

A woman from Campbell will spend the next 15-to-22 and a half years in prison following her guilty plea and sentencing Monday morning in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court. Mildred Woods avoided a jury trial scheduled to begin today by admitting her guilt to counts of R**e and Trafficking in Humans for Commercial S*x, both felonies of the first degree. The case was handled by Assistant Prosecutors Kyle Hilles and Caitlyn Andrews with the Violence Against Women Unit. The crimes occurred when the victim was just twelve years old. A co-defendant in the case was sentenced previously. In court, Judge Anthony D’Apolito called the facts of the case, “beyond me” to understand, adding he hopes Woods is “tormented and haunted” by what she did. The judge then sentenced the defendant to the maximum term for her crimes, which will also require her to register her address every 90 days for the rest of her life once she’s released from prison. Prosecutor Lynn Maro credited Attorneys Hilles and Andrews and the Campbell Police Department for their work in bringing about a successful conclusion to this case.
