❄️Winter Crisis Assistance Program Opens November 1

Ohio’s Winter Crisis Program opens November 1, offering one-time assistance to income-eligible households struggling with heating bills.

The program can help residents facing a utility shutoff, already disconnected service, or running low on heating fuel. Applications will be accepted through March 31, 2027.

🤝 Collaboration & Celebration in County Government

The Mahoning County and Trumbull County Commissioners met early today with representatives from the County Commissioners Association of Ohio (CCAO) and CORSA to discuss important topics affecting county government, share perspectives, and explore ways to move forward productively in serving Ohio's communities.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to celebrate a special milestone for CCAO Executive Director Cheryl L. Subler, recognizing her 30 years of dedicated service to Ohio's 88 counties. Her leadership, commitment, and contributions have made a lasting impact on county government throughout the state.

🌱 Growing the Next Generation Through Agriculture

The Mahoning County Commissioners held their regularly scheduled Board Meeting this morning, which included a presentation from representatives of OSU Extension on 4-H and connecting local youth to agriculture.

Through hands-on learning, students have opportunities to learn about farming, where their food comes from, and the many possibilities agriculture offers for their future.

Thank you to OSU Extension for helping educate and inspire the next generation!

The Mahoning County Commissioners attended a community meeting tonight at the Covelli Centre Community Room in Youngstown to discuss the new downtown Mahoning County Government Center.

The commissioners answered questions from the public and spoke with members of the media about the project.

📚 Moving Forward Through Modernization!

Today, county commissioners were invited to tour the Records Retention Department and see firsthand the new technology helping preserve our county’s history. Among the upgrades is a state-of-the-art book scanner that digitizes historic books and documents, making records more accessible while ensuring they’re preserved for future generations.

We’re proud to see these investments in action as our county continues to modernize, improve efficiency, and move forward! 👏

While commissioners Anthony and Carol were packing meals at the Canfield Fair grounds with Direction Home of Eastern Ohio Commissioner Geno joined the area mayors today at the Mahoning River Mayors meeting.

Governor and Fran Dewine were the guests of the mayors. All thanked the govenor for his years
of service to northeast Ohio.

The Port authority, Lake to river, Eastgate and the chamber all gave remarks and offered thanks for the governors work in economic development and workforce growth in our area.

Thanks to Sam Covelli for hosting us and all he does for the community.

Our commissioners were proud to take part in the Pack the Valley event today, joining fellow volunteers to help pack meals for those in need. 📦

It was a wonderful opportunity to come together, give back, and make a difference in the lives of others. We’re grateful to everyone who donated their time and energy to help fight hunger in our community.
