Free State Department of Social Development Celebrates Officials Who Completed the 2026 Comrades Marathon

On behalf of the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Department of Social Development Hon. Mathabo Hlalele extends heartfelt congratulations to all officials who successfully participated in the 2026 Comrades Marathon, one of South Africa’s most prestigious and challenging sporting events.

The Department commends each athlete for their commitment, discipline, perseverance, and determination. These qualities embody the spirit of wellness, resilience, and excellence and serve as an inspiration to colleagues and communities alike.

Participation in the Comrades Marathon demands months of dedicated preparation, sacrifice, and unwavering focus. By taking on and completing this extraordinary challenge, the Department’s officials have demonstrated the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle while balancing professional responsibilities.

Their achievement highlights the positive impact of physical fitness and wellbeing on both personal growth and workplace performance.

YOUTH MONTH SESSION EQUIP SEHUNELO LEARNERS

15 June 2026, Bloemfontein
In commemoration of Youth Month, the Youth Development and Crime Prevention Unit hosted an information session at Sehunelo Secondary School on 15 June 2026.

Stakeholders from SAPS, NYDA, and Motheo TVET College engaged learners on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse, the impact on health and daily life, and strategies to resist peer pressure.

The session also highlighted bursary and educational opportunities, with NYDA and Motheo TVET College explaining application requirements.

A Q&A discussion concluded the programme, giving learners direct access to guidance and resources. The initiative aimed to empower youth to make informed choices and pursue academic success.
