WORLD STROKE DAY

World Stroke Day 2026 takes place on October 29, 2026, organized globally by the World Stroke Organization.

The theme for World Stroke Day 2026 is "Every M1nute Counts" with the call to action and , as designated by the World Stroke Organization.

One in 4 people have a lifetime risk of stroke; time lost is brain lost, making emergency care and early recognition critical.

A stroke is a critical medical emergency where every minute matters. When blood supply to the brain is interrupted, millions of brain cells begin to die each minute, drastically increasing the risk of long-term disability or life-threatening complications. In such emergencies, immediate intervention by those present serves as the first line of defence before emergency services arrive.

This World Stroke Day, let’s equip ourselves with the essential knowledge to recognise stroke symptoms early, understand the FAST method, and take swift, potentially life-saving action when every second counts.

These are the symptoms: Sudden loss of balance, trouble walking, or unsteadiness. Sudden blurred vision, double vision, or loss of sight in one or both eyes. One side of the face droops or feels numb. Ask the person to smile to check if the smile is uneven. One arm is weak or numb. Ask the person to raise both arms to see if one arm drifts downward and slurred speech, trouble speaking, or difficulty understanding simple sentences.
