Mediclinic Paarl proudly celebrates Professional Nurse Roné Radyn, our Learning and Development Facilitator, who earned a silver medal at the Hospital Association of South Africa (HASA) Conference in Johannesburg following a special invitation to present her Master's degree research.

Her dissertation, "Perspectives on Burnout Among Professional Nurses Working in Intensive Care Units at Selected Private Hospitals," sheds light on an important topic affecting healthcare professionals and the quality of patient care.

As part of Heart and Stroke Awareness Month, the team at Mediclinic Paarl recently offered free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings to members of our community.

These screenings form part of our ongoing commitment to promoting heart health and encouraging the early detection of risk factors that can lead to heart disease and stroke.

In the true spirit of Mandela Day, Mediclinic Paarl proudly supported local NPO, MCM Miqlat Tiffany’s Community Centre, and specifically the day care centre.

Donations from our staff included books, stationery, educational games and toys, clothing, and non-perishable food to help enrich the lives of the children in their care.

Jacorie Visagie, Client Experience Manager, and Tarryn Rhaman, HR Business Partner, visited the centre to hand over the donations to Aletia Grundlingh, CEO of MCM Miqlat, and Margaret Gombard, Principal of the day care centre.

We would like to congratulate Dr Dries van den Heever, urologist in private practice at Mediclinic Paarl, on completing his Master of Science (MSc) in Global Healthcare Leadership with Merit at the University of Oxford. His studies focused on organisational management, healthcare systems, health economics and evidence-based healthcare. His dissertation explored the development and sustainability of robotic surgery programmes in South Africa as a middle-income country. Congratulations on this significant academic achievement, Dr Van den Heever, and we wish you continued success.

On International Nurses Day, Mediclinic Paarl celebrated the compassion, dedication and excellence of its nursing staff. During a special ceremony, the hospital presented the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses to PN Desiree Ewerts and PN Sabelo Keva, who were nominated by clients for their outstanding and compassionate care.

The DAISY Award is an international recognition programme that honours nurses who make a meaningful difference in the lives of clients and their families through exceptional care and kindness.
