URGENT WEATHER NOTICE TO PARENTS AND GUARDIANS📢

Dear Ethembeni Enrichment High School Parents and Guardians,

The safety and well-being of our learners, staff, and families remain our highest priority.

Due to the severe weather conditions forecast for the Eastern Cape and the Level 7/8 weather warnings issued for our region, Ethembeni will be closed on Wednesday, 3 June, and Thursday, 4 June. Authorities have warned of heavy rainfall, flooding, dangerous road conditions, and strong winds across Nelson Mandela Bay and surrounding areas.

Support staff will be at school this morning to assist with any learners who may already be on their way or arrive before receiving this message.
However, parents are strongly encouraged to keep their children at home where possible and avoid unnecessary travel.

All controlled tests scheduled for this week will be postponed and rescheduled for next week and the following week. Further details regarding revised assessment dates will be communicated.

EEHS MANAGEMENT

Reasons to be grateful- We were lucky enough to have the Soar Light Foundation stop by and have a talk with our young ladies today.

The Soar Light Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young people in the community. Their mission is "to demonstrate faith in action by providing care".

Today they did just that with a generous donation of sanitary pads for our girls.

We are truly appreciative of their caring gesture.

Thank you, Soar Light Foundation. Keep soaring high in the community with your great work!

Wishing our learners the very best as they represent EEHS at the Eskom Science Expo District Competition.

Career Guidance - The NMU Roadshow visited EEHS.

A big thank you to Thato, Nosi and their colleagues from Faculty of Education - Nelson Mandela University for giving our Grade 12s valuable insight into the university application process, entry requirements and the courses on offer.

It’s getting real — university is just around the corner and sessions like this help our learners take the next step with confidence.

Debate- Our junior debate team made their league debut! They gave it their all against Pearson High school.

While the day didn't yield the desired result we are proud of their dedication and commitment to the club.

Community Partnership in Action

Thank you to the police officers from Mount Road Police Station for spending time with our learners in assembly this morning.

They shared important messages about making safe choices, looking out for one another and staying away from negative influences.

Career guidance - Thank you to Ratanang from Advanced Real Estate and Marcia from Bondsure for equipping our Grade 11 learners with real industry insight.

Be a Buddy, Not a Bully

Today at assembly, a few of our Grade 8 learners spoke up about bullying.

They broke down the different types of bullying and shared the real impact it has on those who experience it. The message was loud and clear: at Ethembeni, we don’t tolerate any form of bullying.

We stand for respect, kindness and looking out for one another. Be a buddy, not a bully.

Thank you to the Grade Head, Ms Mgweba and the Grade 8 class teachers for leading this important initiative and giving our learners a platform to speak out.
