Last week we turned away 3 children.

Today, a 6-month-old baby in the midst of an emergency removal.

We didn’t want to say no. We had to — we’re legally limited to 6 children per house. Without additional property, we simply don’t have space for more.

At Zanethemba Charity Foundation in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), we provide temporary safe care for abused, abandoned, and neglected babies and young children (newborn to 6 years old).

These little ones didn’t ask for the pain they’ve endured. They deserve safety, healing, love, and a real chance.

Meanwhile, over R662,000 was raised in days for a coffee machine. South Africans have shown they can rally with incredible generosity when moved. đź’”

Imagine that same energy helping us secure land and build a forever home — so no child in crisis is ever turned away again. We urgently need support to expand and care for more vulnerable little ones.

If you can help:
• Donate towards land, development, or daily care via our BackaBuddy campaigns.
• Share this post so the message reaches more hearts.
• Offer skills, volunteers, or in-kind support (food, supplies, etc.).

Every contribution brings hope (“Zanethemba” = to bring hope in isiXhosa). These children’s lives matter deeply. Let’s show them the same compassion South Africa poured out for other causes.

On route to school this morning, little madam sees a bike track and emphatically says that she would like to ride a bike!
Would anyone like to create this experience for her and put her in a baby seat on the back of the bicycle?
