🔥 Training Night - Drip Torch and Make Safe 🔥

Tonight, our brigade utilised a Permit to Burn to help volunteers gain experience working around live fire in a controlled environment. This provided a valuable opportunity for members to become more familiar and confident around fire behaviour and how to safely react when operating near active fire.

As part of the training, members completed practical lessons on the safe handling and use of a drip torch, including how it is used during fire operations and hazard reduction activities. Volunteers also practised using the Muke rake to establish containment lines, learning techniques used to help stop fire spread and improve fire control.

The evening also provided an opportunity for members to continue and finish practical drills as part of their Firefighter Foundation training, helping to build confidence, skills, and readiness for future incidents.

Well done to everyone involved in tonight’s training.

Yesterday, it was great to be back at the Alice Springs Bangtail Muster after a few years away, we really enjoyed being part of it again.

In honour and respect of Kuminjayi Little Baby, we wore pink bows as requested by Rotary.

Thank you to Rotary Club of Alice Springs for organising another great parade.

👩‍🚒 International Firefighters Day 👨‍🚒

To all the Firefighters with the NT Fire and Rescue Service and Bushfires NT, thank you for putting yourself in danger on a continuous basis.

Thank you for putting your lives on hold and missing family functions, holidays & your kids events.

Thank you for volunteering, not just for all the calls, but all the training, community events, station cleaning, and beyond. You leave your home, your family at a moment’s notice, never knowing exactly when you will be back.

Thank you to all your families for enduring the challenges that come with your livelihood and service to others, for dedication to complete strangers.

Alice Springs Rural Volunteer Fire Brigade extends our sincere condolences to the family of Kumanjayi Little Baby. We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss.

We thank NT Police, all agencies and the Alice Springs community for their tireless efforts and support during the search, and acknowledge the families and employers of all volunteers and responders, including our members, who made it possible.

Rest in peace, Kumanjayi Little Baby.
