Central Desert Regional Council has been supporting its 4,200 people in 12 communities over 262,000km² since 2008. We work TOGETHER. We act with INTEGRITY.

We provide services to the communities of Ti Tree, Laramba, Engawala, Atitjere, Yuelamu, Nyirripi, Lajamanu, Yuendumu and Willowra. Major Services include Aged Services, Children's Services, Night Patrol/Community Safety Patrol, Sports and Recreation, CDP, Waste Management, Parks and Gardens upkeep, Essential Services, Housing Repairs and Maintenance. 🏀 A great day for Atitjere!
Community members, young people and project partners came together to celebrate the official opening of the new Atitjere Basketball Court.
Funded by the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) through the Aboriginals Benefit Account and managed by CAYLUS, the new court provides a safe and welcoming space for sport, recreation and community connection.
The opening featured a ribbon cutting, first hoop shootout, basketball games, community BBQ and prize presentations.
A big thank you to NIAA, CAYLUS, GSD Solutions, the Atitjere community, Councillor Raymond Webb and the CDRC Sport & Recreation team for helping bring this project to life.

🏆 Yuelamu are the 2026
Yuendumu Hub Football Fellas Premiers! 🏉The Grand Final delivered everything football fans could ask for, with Yuelamu holding off a determined Yuendumu side to win 30-26 in an exciting contest that went right down to the final seconds.
The lead changed throughout the match and both teams played with outstanding spirit and determination. In the end, Yuelamu's accurate goal kicking helped secure a memorable four-point victory and complete an undefeated season.
Congratulations to Yuelamu on an incredible achievement, and well done to Yuendumu for a fantastic Grand Final performance. Thank you to all
players, families, volunteers and supporters who helped make the season such a success.

✅ Congratulations to our Laramba Aged Care support staff, who have successfully completed I'm Alert in Food Safety training.
The course covered important food safety topics including hygiene, food storage, chemical safety and pest control, with staff completing 26 modules and assessments along the way.
Everyone completed the training with enthusiasm and a positive attitude, achieving a successful result.
Well done to the team for their commitment to providing safe, quality care for aged care residents in Laramba. 👏

🎉 Willowra Recreation Hall Re-Opening 🎉
The Willowra community came together on 1 September to celebrate the re-opening of the Willowra Recreation Hall following a refurbishment supported through funding from the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA).
For many residents, the day marked the return of an important community facility that had not been available for use for several years.
Around 50 community members enjoyed a barbecue, cake and ice cream while exploring the upgraded facility and celebrating its return to community use.
The refurbishment included building repairs, painting, new flooring, electrical upgrades, kitchen and amenities improvements, air conditioning upgrades, and fencing improvements, creating a more welcoming and functional space for community activities.
The Recreation Hall is an important community asset, providing a safe and accessible space for youth programs, sporting activities, cultural events, community meetings, training sessions and celebrations.
Council thanks the National Indigenous Australians Agency for its support and everyone who joined the celebration.
