This month the Municipal Services team removed 110 old cars from Yuelamu community, ready for recycling in the future. "This is a great achievement that not only improves the look of the community but also boosts overall health and safety," said Mark Provost, Regional Manager, Municipal Services West.

🔥 Earlier this month clients at Laramba Aged Care gathered to light their new fire pit for the first time — cooking kangaroo tails and enjoying the fresh air together. The raised fire drum, with its kangaroo and paw-track cut-outs, honours culture, storytelling and connection to Country while offering a safer, more controlled way to have an open flame than building one on the ground. Moments like this build community through shared meals, memories and a sense of belonging. It’s a small but meaningful part of life in the Central Desert, and we’re proud to support spaces that honour culture while keeping people safe.

🚑 Respect Our Ambos 🚑
Violence against paramedics is not on.
Our ambulance workers are out there every day in Alice Springs, showing up when people need help the most. They come into difficult situations to care for our families, our friends, and our communities.
They’re there for you.
But they can’t do their job safely if they’re being threatened or harmed.
Help them so they can help you.
✅ Stay calm
✅ Follow their instructions
✅ Treat them with respect
When we look after our ambos, we’re looking after our whole community.
Let’s stand together – Two Ways, One Outcome – keeping everyone safe.

Council funded an Uncertified Aerodrome Course for Atitjere and Ti Tree to improve community airstrip care. Owen Scott ran the condensed course for 14 maintenance staff, covering aerodrome safety, serviceability inspections and operational requirements while blending best practice with local input. On-strip training let staff apply learning—walking runways and running realistic scenarios—boosting skills, confidence and safer operations for med evacuations, freight and travel.
