📧 TAKE ACTION FOR CANBERRA’S KANGAROOS
We’ve had new followers recently, and many people have been asking how they can express their opposition to the ACT’s kangaroo cull.
One of the most powerful things you can do is contact ACT decision-makers and tell them that you oppose the killing.
We’ve created a simple email action to make it easy to send a message.
📧 Facebook: Click the link below.
📧 Instagram: Visit the link in our bio.
Personalised emails have far more impact than copied templates, so please put your own thoughts and feelings into your message if you can.
Other points you may wish to raise include:
• Shooting thousands of native animals each year inevitably causes suffering.
• Kangaroos are living, sentient animals with families and social bonds.
• Conservation should be about learning to coexist with wildlife, not constantly finding reasons to kill it.
• The ACT’s recognition of animal sentience should be reflected in how native animals are treated.
• Kangaroos belong in nature reserves and have lived on this continent for millions of years.
• Nature reserves should be places where native animals are protected, not killed.
• Most importantly, please explain why you personally oppose the killing. Your own words and experiences matter.

Go Georgie! ✊💜
This week I’m going full throttle on the government’s dangerous legislation to create a new hunting super agency.
But in addition to that, here's what else I'll be raising in parliament this week:
🤍 Calling for the closure of puppy farming loopholes in honour of my girl Aggy.
🐾 Giving the greyhound racing industry hell by ensuring no known dog death goes unrecorded.
🪵 Seeking answers on tree felling operations in declared swift parrot habitat near Rushworth and Heathcote.
⛳️ Urging the government to back existing and more effective non-lethal solutions for corellas at the Kilmore and Tatura golf clubs.
🪿 Demanding justice for geese who were deliberately run down and killed in Malmsbury.
💸 Seeking clarity on whether wildlife or conservation workers are included in Zoos Victoria's proposed mass job cuts.
🎾 Calling for urgent upgrades to the shared change rooms at Tony Clarke Reserve in Macedon.
🐨 Ensuring the government keeps their commitment to fix our broken Wildlife Act this year following their disgraceful decision to abandon its Animal Care and Protection Bill.
🦇 Clapping back at a parliamentary petition intended to disrupt flying-foxes in Bendigo.

Nature reserves exist to protect wildlife not kill it!
In the 11 June edition of Canberra CityNews, two powerful letters questioned why native animals are being targeted in places meant to keep them safe.
One challenged the ongoing shooting of kangaroos and wallabies in ACT nature reserves. The other raised concerns about proposals for aerial shooting of dingoes, Australia's native apex predator and a vital part of healthy ecosystems.
The contradiction is impossible to ignore: if nature reserves are for conservation, why are native animals being killed within them?
We believe it's time to move beyond outdated lethal control and invest in genuine conservation: protecting habitat, supporting coexistence, and using science to safeguard wildlife, not justify its destruction.
Nature reserves should be sanctuaries, not shooting zones!

How many native animals must be killed before we admit this policy has failed?
On Wednesday, we stood outside the ACT Legislative Assembly alongside our allies, fellow advocates, and compassionate community members to say enough is enough.
Despite the language used to soften it, the ACT kangaroo "cull" is the mass killing of native animals. Kangaroos are sentient, social beings who belong on this land. Every year, mothers are shot, joeys lose their lives or their families, and entire mobs are disrupted.
We came together to demand better. We refuse to accept cruelty as normal ✊
A huge thank you to Animal Defenders Office, Save Canberra's Kangaroos, Animal Liberation ACT and everyone who attended, spoke up, held signs, and stood in solidarity with Australia's wildlife.
If a policy depends on killing thousands of native animals every year, it is the policy that needs rethinking.

Community update: 45,512 SIGNATURES FOR THE BRUMBIES! 🎉🐴
THANKS TO ALL OF YOU the campaign against the aerial and ground culling of brumbies in Kosciuszko National Park continues to grow.
Between the NSW Parliamentary e-petition and the petition led by Animal Justice Party NSW MP Emma Hurst, a combined total of 45,512 signatures have been collected up to date! ✊
To everyone who has signed, shared, commented, contacted MPs, and helped spread the word: thank you so much. Every signature strengthens demonstrates the depth of public concern about the treatment of brumbies.
We also want to address a question we've seen raised recently: yes, we care about brumbies too.
Animal Justice Party ACT has been advocating for animal welfare in all its forms, and we are doing everything within our power to support this campaign. While this issue falls within NSW jurisdiction, we continue to support the work being done by our colleagues in Animal Justice Party NSW and MP Emma Hurst, who has been working tirelessly to raise these concerns in Parliament and push for more humane solutions.
The fight is not over.
The NSW Parliamentary e-petition remains open until 10 November 2026, which means there is still time to build even more public pressure and show decision-makers that Australians expect animal welfare to be taken seriously.
More than 45,500 people have already spoken.
Let's keep going. Share the petition. Talk to your friends and family. Contact your representatives. 🤎
