Very pleased to be able to take a cheque for £661.50 to Wessex Cancer Support Centre from our recent Cakes4Cancer event.
Thank you so much once again to the businesses for donating cakes and the parishioners of Bembridge for raising such a great amount. Our lengthsmen Steve donated a huge bucket of loose change he had been saving, which came to a whopping £150, so a massive thank you to him as well.

Just another reminder to get your entry forms in for the annual Bembridge in Bloom competition. There are 9 categories ranging from a junior recycled planter to best hanging basket/container to large front garden, so something for everyone. Closing date is 19th June. There are some great prizes to be won, but more importantly you get to share your wonderful gardens. Pleased to have a new judge this year - Mike F**t, previously Deputy CEO and Director of Parks for London's Royal Parks. He is very keen on encouraging community engagement with the environment and gardening. Let's show him what Bembridge has to offer!
Form attached, or they are also available from the Parish Council Office, website, the Bembridge Horticultural Society website and Bembridge Library.
Also another polite reminder to last year's winners to return your cups to the Parish Council office. Many thanks.

If anyone has lost this in the High Street, someone handed it in to the Parish Office. Drop by to collect.

Well it's that time of year again - the annual Bembridge in Bloom competition! This year we are extremely pleased to have Mike F**t, as one of our judges. Mike was the Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Parks for London's Royal Parks. Alongside him will be Caroline Peel, Chairman of Bembridge Horticultural Society.
We have been working hard to make this lovely village bloom with new planters at Lane End Cemetery and the High St. Thank you to the businesses on the High St who have put up hanging baskets and floral/plant displays, it's looking lovely. We really want to celebrate this beautiful village, so now it's over to the parishioners.
Please enter your wonderful gardens into the competition. We have 9 categories to choose from, including a junior one for planting up a recycled container. Application forms (see attached) can be obtained from the parish council website, Bembridge Library, the Bembridge Horticultural Society website, or by emailing [email protected]
Some great prizes, courtesy of Warner's, including a spa treatment, tea for 2, bottle of gin, etc. All the winners will also get free membership of Bembridge Horticultural Society for a year.
We look forward to receiving your applications and visiting and celebrating the wonderful gardens of Bembridge.

We were made aware of this letter at the end of last week and I've been trying to make sure that it has actually gone out to residents before posting, as I know that these works have been delayed on a number of occasions before. However, we think it is important that people are kept abreast of what is going on asap, so posting here now to make sure everyone is aware.
I believe Southern Water will be writing to Plastic Free and the Parish Council in relation to the objection letter that was recently lodged with them. I'm also expecting a reply as Ward Councillor from the CEO of SW regarding issues that I have raised with him regarding investments that have already been earmarked for use to reduce rainwater run off into the system. If we can avoid the system being overwhelmed with rainwater then even if the pipe is in place, it should hopefully very rarely (ideally never) be used. I'll update when I hear more, either here, or for the latest IoWC info you can follow Cllr Mark Rochell Bembridge
Thanks.
Thank You!
Thank you so much to all those who attended our Cakes4Cancer event this morning in the Village Hall. Also thank you to those individuals who made or bought cakes for us to sell, and local businesses for their donations; Hotbox, Little Foxes, Inver Care and the residents of The Limes. Thank you also for the raffle prizes that were donated. A special thanks to our lengthsman Steve who donated a huge jar of loose change he had been saving which amounted to a whopping £150!
Final total will be announced once all the money is counted.
All proceeds will be going to the Wessex Cancer Support Centre in Newport.

Just a reminder about our Cakes4Cancer coffee morning event being held in Bembridge Village Hall this Friday 29th May 10.00am - 12.30pm. There will be a raffle and 'Guess the Weight of the Cake' competition. Unfortunately we do not have any card machines so this is a cash only event.
Every penny raised will be donated to the Wessex Cancer Support Centre in Newport.
