19 October is War Widow’s Day

Dear Friend, 80 YEARS · 1946 – 2026 This year is the fifth War Widows Day in NSW, and it falls in a special year. Eighty years ago in NSW, war widows first came together to turn loss into strength. Delay in clearance of the Australian Government Afghanistan Official History volumes

The following letter has been sent to Defence Minister Richard Marles, Foreign Affairs Minister Penny Wong and DVA Minister Matt Keogh. Greater recognition for R***e Company Butterworth veterans

The Australian Government will reclassify service at Butterworth in Malaysia between 1970 and 1989 as ‘non-warlike service’, replacing the previous ‘peacetime service’ classification. This decision acknowledges the unique environment in which Australian Defence Force personnel served while protecting RAAF Base Butterworth and supporting Australia's longstanding security commitment in the region. The decision follows a Defence Honours and Awards Appeals Tribunal Inquiry into Medallic Recognition for Service with R***e Company Butterworth, which recommended this change....
