Notice of training exercise – NSW Police Academy Goulburn

The NSW Police Academy – McDermott Drive, Goulburn – wishes to advise neighbouring residents of a training exercise being conducted this weekend.

The exercise will be conducted between 3pm to 5.30pm tomorrow (Saturday 31 October 2026) and between 9am to 11.30am on Sunday (1 November 2026).

Residents are advised there may be intermittent loud noises occurring within the grounds of the Academy as part of this essential police training exercise.

Strict safety protocols will be adhered to at all times.

There is no risk to the public.

PATCH RUN

Class 371 completed their 'Patch Run' this week and were presented with the student rank insignia, cap badges and cap bands, earning the privilege to wear the NSW Police uniform for the first time.

This run was dedicated to the memory of Sergeant 3rd Class Eric George Bailey GC, who was killed in 1945 in Blayney NSW.

Also in attendance were members of Bailey's family and colleagues, including his daughter Doreen.

LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN 2026

Staff and students participated in the final leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run, supporting special olympians and their families.

The torch is being carried from Brisbane to Melbourne for the opening of the Special Olympics.

The NSW Police Academy is proud to be guardians of the flame for this important event.

NATIONAL POLICE REMEMBRANCE DAY 2026

Staff and students from Class 370 travelled down to Canberra to participate in the march for the National Police Memorial twilight service.

After stopping off at the big merino and participating in the march, NSW Police Force Commissioner Mal Lanyon APM, spoke with the students and commended them on their participation in the event.

Today, on National Police Remembrance Day, we remember those police officers who have lost their lives on duty, or as a result of their duties.

The walls of remembrance at the NSW Police Academy's St. Michael's Chapel, list the names of those police officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

A service will be conducted at the Chapel, where students and staff will come together and reflect on the meaning of this sombre occasion.

OPEN DAY 2026

Today, thousands of members of the community attended the 2026 NSW Police Academy open day.

Events included interactive displays and activities conducted by many of the NSW Police Force's specialty business units, including PolAir, Rescue & Bomb Disposal, Police Dog Unit, NSW Police Band, Recruitment Branch, Aboriginal Engagement-, Western Sydney University, The Police Shop and many more.

The open day demonstrated the multitude of career opportunities that a possible by joining the NSW Police Force.

It is with incredible sadness that we honour Constable Mia Lay, who tragically died in the line of duty at Redfern this morning.

We extend our deepest condolences to Constable Lay’s family, loved ones, colleagues and friends.

This is a solemn day for the NSW Police Force and we stand united.
