Late last term, Harkaway Primary entered the South East Water National Water Week Competition. This year’s poster competition theme was - Water Heroes: Make Every Drop Count.

Children all across Victoria, from early learning through primary school to Year 8 of secondary school, were invited to design, draw or paint a poster that reflected this theme.

Congratulations to Ava, who placed 3rd in the Prep/Foundation Category. She won a $25 QBD Books gift card. Well done Ava!

As a school we also won a whole school prize of a $500 QBD Books gift card. Go Harkaway!

The 2026 winners and their artwork will be available on the South East Water National Water Week poster competition webpage. https://southeastwater.com.au/about-us/community/national-water-week-poster-competition/

Making a Difference at Harkaway Primary School! ♻️🌱

Our students have been getting involved in Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme, helping to recycle eligible drink containers while making a positive difference to our environment.

It’s a fantastic way for our students to learn about sustainability, reduce waste and see how small actions can make a big impact!

The bags are hanging at the front of the school and we are also happy to collect any donations at the front office. We are raising money for our students school garden to plant, harvest, cook and share our feast together!

🌏 Connecting with IB Schools! 🌏

On Thursday, our teachers had the wonderful opportunity to visit Rivercrest Primary School and connect with another IB school. It was a fantastic chance to share ideas, learn from one another and see how the IB framework comes to life in another school community.

Our teachers are excited to continue building these connections and are looking forward to visiting Kunyung Primary School on Friday! We can’t wait to keep learning, collaborating and sharing ideas with fellow IB educators. 🤝✨
