Sneaking away for a few days on an epic trip out to the reef with Frogleys offshore.
Where every fish was a new species capture for me so I was frothing off every hook up.
This beaut of a coral trout came off a semi hardy vibe 110mm in colour muddy prawn.
Wow do the things pull

Nice chunky one from the other day with
Not a barrel but let’s call it a 30 block 🍺, a uncommon size in the past seasons but plenty around this one and a bites a bite.
Always good to get one on the board fishing with mates

Sabre rods was the brand growing up in 80’s
That bend and the dream of the big game captures something I could only imagine.

Fast forward a decade or three and I still appreciate that bend.
We had lock and loaded with 14kg of drag in some pretty average conditions this week and we got the job done.

It’s never a guarantee but I was pretty confident we would get the bite, especially with the predicted winds firing up the fish.
Bloody hell! Did this fish play up, charging the boat a couple of times and just not giving up easy.
Second chance on the leader saw sink the hookem home and happy with a new PB Bluefin.
The fish taking b***e weapon lumo in very short corner.

A pigeon pair this morning off a double had Alf on his toes and he was bagged out in the first set of rods.
The offshore gummy shark fishing has been great this autumn and seems to be continuing into winter.
The new alpha nano Gamakatsu inline 8/0 circles getting the perfect hook ups

Alf was keen to get out for a fish, with the forecast not looking best I suggested staying inside the port and picked a good wind with tide location.
It was slow going with only one bite for the tide, but it was the one he was after.

A lovely gummy shark heading home for a bath in beer batter
