The Country SA PHN (CSAPHN) is the primary health network covering the country regions of South Australia. The Australian Government announced the establishment of Primary Health Networks, in 2014, and are to be known as PHNs. The key objectives of PHNs are to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of medical services for patients, particularly those at risk of poor health outcomes; and improve coordination of care to ensure patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time. Our six key priority areas are; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, Aged Care, Digital Health (eHealth), Health Workforce, Metal Health and Population Health. The CSAPHN works to bridge the gap of health inequity and access in rural South Australia by building a collaborative and responsive country SA health care system. Code of conduct:

Our Manager Primary Care & Digital Support Julie Di Rito had a great morning at a networking breakfast with practice managers, practice nurses, and clinical cancer care providers from across the Fleurieu Peninsula.

The breakfast provided an opportunity to learn about cancer treatment and supportive services available at Icon Cancer Centre - Australia in Noarlunga, its financial assistance initiative for eligible Fleurieu patients, and how practices can access information and support for their patients.

It also offered a valuable opportunity to share insights, discuss local challenges, and strengthen connections to help improve access to cancer care for our rural communities.

Our Chief Operating Officer Suzanne Delaney and Contract and Performance Manager Jack Mann attended the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) “Andy Gilbert Great Debate 2026” on Monday evening.

The debate topic “Digital Healthcare and AI: Are advances in technology helpful or harmful in today’s healthcare system?” saw Hon. Blair Boyer MP, Minister for Health and Wellbeing joined by a team of Senior Healthcare leaders, Chief Information Officer, and Legal expertise in this robust debate.

All debaters recognised the strong case for the potential of AI while weighing that against the patient benefit and accepting that decisions can be complemented by technology and AI but not replaced by human oversight.

Country SA PHN commissions the Dementia Support Pharmacist program in regional SA providing medication and symptom management, education, and advanced care planning of medication use for patients, carers, and families of those experiencing dementia.

The PSA also delivers the Aged Care On-site Pharmacist program designed to increase the uptake of aged care onsite pharmacists by Residential Aged Care Homes across country South Australia.

On Friday Country SA PHN welcomed community members, healthcare professionals, and local stakeholders to Tailem Bend for a workshop focused on the future of primary healthcare in the Coorong region.

Participants at the General Practice Incentive Fund (Thin Markets) Co-design workshop shared their perspectives and experiences of accessing current primary health care services and explored innovative ways to improve future access.

Country SA PHN has engaged Larter Consulting to undertake targeted stakeholder conversations to inform sustainable primary healthcare service models to better meet the needs of local communities.

Thank you to everyone for their contributions. The insights gathered will inform further exploration of potential approaches to supporting primary healthcare access across the region.

A special thank you to Larter Consulting’s Marianne, Linda, and Mario for facilitating the workshop and to our team who have worked alongside them to support this process.
