We are the NSW state government body that administers the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977. We strive to eliminate discrimination in New South Wales by answering enquiries, reconciling complaints, raising awareness about discrimination and its impacts, managing applications for exemptions from the Act, and advising the government about discrimination issues. If you have experienced discrimination in NSW, you can lodge a complaint with us.

Recent media coverage has highlighted the experiences of women facing discrimination during pregnancy and when returning to work.

Everyone deserves a fair and inclusive workplace where pregnancy or breastfeeding does not limit their opportunities to participate, contribute and progress.

In NSW, it is against the law to discriminate against someone because they are pregnant or breastfeeding.

This National Carers Week, we are recognising the carers in our community: family members, friends, neighbours and colleagues who provide care and support every day.

Did you know that in NSW carers discrimination is against the law at work?

It is when you are treated less favourably than someone else because of your responsibilities caring for a child, a person you are a guardian for, or a family member.
