Households in the Glenelg Shire are being encouraged to get fire ready this Spring, with a free green-waste initiative on offer.
With warmer and drier conditions forecast, it’s more important than ever to reduce fuel loads around homes, sheds, and properties.
To support this, the Glenelg Shire Council will provide free green waste disposal for residents and ratepayers at all local Waste Management facilities from Saturday October 24 to Wednesday 4 November 2026 (inclusive).
Residents are urged to take advantage of this opportunity to clean up their properties by removing dry vegetation, fallen branches, leaf litter, and other flammable materials.
Accepted green waste includes:
• Tree and shrub pruning's
• Leaves and grass clippings
• Small branches and twigs
Please note: This free drop off is for Glenelg Shire Residents and HOUSEHOLD Garden Waste ONLY, no commercial loads or businesses are eligible.
General household rubbish, and timber will not be accepted as part of this free service.
This initiative is for household quantities and available to Glenelg Shire ratepayers and residents only. A limit of 1 cubic metre of green waste per customer applies.
