Glenora Child Care Society provides child care for children twelve months of age through twelve years.

We are a non-profit community-based centre, which has been providing services within the Glenora community since 1975. The Executive Director, with the support of the Board of Directors, administers the Child Care programs. The Board of Directors consists of parent volunteers whose children attend the Centre. Our mission is “Quality Care for a Quality future.” Glenora Child Care Society’s philosophy is based on the importance of play. We believe that children are unique individuals with the right to grow cognitively, socially, emotionally and physically through play.

In the OSC room, creativity and imagination often unfold spontaneously as children come up with new ideas using the materials around them. This time, the children decided to open their very own movie theatre! They arranged chairs for their audience and created a welcoming space for their peers to enjoy the show. Through this experience, the children explored their creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills while bringing their ideas to life and creating a shared experience together.

Two children watch the iPad together, eagerly predicting which of their peers will arrive next. What began as a way to ease drop-off through familiar faces, blown kisses, and dance moves has become a moment of connection, anticipation, and belonging as they look forward to welcoming their friends.

In the Sharks room, the children have been exploring paint in ways beyond using a traditional paintbrush. They have been discovering that items they normally use in their play can also become creative art tools. Through this open-ended experience, the children are experimenting with different textures, shapes, movements, and ways to make marks on the paper. Their curiosity and creativity are leading the way as they explore familiar materials in a whole new way!
