A state funeral is planned to honour and celebrate the life of former lieutenant-governor the Honourable Marilyn Trenholme Counsell, O.C, O.N.B who passed away June 17.

The funeral, which will be open to the public, will take place at 2 pm on Friday, June 26, in the Marjorie Young Bell Convocation Hall at Mount Allison University, 37 York St., Sackville.

A reception will follow at the university’s Purdy Crawford Centre for the Arts, 152 Main St.

Members of the public wishing to express condolences may do so by signing the condolence book online.

Flags at all provincial government buildings have been placed at half-mast until sunset on the day of the funeral.

Construction has begun at Enfant Jésus RHSJ† Hospital in Caraquet that will see an addition added onto the second floor to house their new pharmacy.

This new addition is a part of a pharmacy initiative that will see every hospital pharmacy in the province receive upgrades to modernize their facilities and ensure they are equipped to meet current standards.

This is a seasonal reminder to leave fawns alone. Seeing a baby deer alone might seem alarming but in most cases it likely doesn’t need rescuing.

• Mother deer leave fawns alone during the day but return to care for them later. Healthy fawns stay quiet and still, even near homes or paths.

• Do not pick up, move, or feed the fawn.

• If it shows signs of injury or illness, contact your local Department of Natural Resources office.
