Recently, members of the Fredericton Fire Department visited Cedar Brook Early Learning Centre & Forest School to teach children about fire safety and give them a hands-on look at Engine 3 and our firefighting equipment.

From trying a hose line to seeing firefighters in full gear, it was a fun and educational day for everyone involved.

Thank you to Cedar Brook for having us—we always enjoy connecting with the next generation of our community!

Today, we recognize and celebrate all of the fathers, stepfathers, grandfathers, and father figures who make a difference both at home and in our community.

Many of our members spend holidays, birthdays, and special moments away from their families while serving the citizens of Fredericton. Their dedication, sacrifice, and commitment to protecting others never go unnoticed.

To all the firefighter dads who lead by example, provide unwavering support, and inspire the next generation both on and off the job — thank you.

Today we profile one of our fire apparatus. This is Rescue 1. It is deployed out of York Street Station. Staffed by 2 fire fighters, it is the work horse of the department, responding to all fires, motor vehicle accidents, heavy rescue calls, river emergencies, and medical emergencies in the downtown area.
Rescue 1 is a 2024 Freightliner M2-106Plus powered by a 300HP diesel engine. Among the various rescue tools are Homaltro Pentheon hydraulic rescue tools and a 10,000lb capacity Warn winch.

Fully equipped to respond to rescue operations, keeping the citizens of Fredericton safe!

🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE – BISHOP DRIVE 🚨

Just before 8:00 p.m. this evening, your Fredericton Firefighters responded to reports of a fire in an apartment building on Bishop Drive.

Firefighters quickly located and extinguished the fire, preventing further extension within the building. Thanks to the rapid actions of crews on scene, the incident was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes.

We would like to thank our members for their swift response and professionalism, as well as our emergency service partners who assisted during the incident.

🚨 STRUCTURE FIRE – DOUGLAS AVENUE

At 4:19 a.m. this morning, all four Fredericton fire stations responded to reports of a deck fire in the 100 block of Douglas Avenue on Fredericton’s Northside.

While crews were responding, dispatch advised that the fire had spread, and the entire rear of the home was now involved in fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions extending from the rear of the residence. Crews quickly deployed handlines and initiated an aggressive fire attack while simultaneously searching the home to ensure all occupants had safely exited.

Thanks to the rapid actions of our members, the fire was quickly brought under control, preventing further spread and significantly limiting the extent of the damage.

All occupants and emergency personnel are safe, and no injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Your Fredericton Firefighters are currently operating at a residential structure fire near the corner of Maple Street and Douglas Avenue.

Please give crews plenty of room to work and follow directions from emergency personnel on scene.

Congratulations to Fredericton’s own Doug Grandy, co-founder of Rink Rebels and a proud member of the Fredericton Firefighters Association, on being named the recipient of the NHL’s Willie O’Ree Community Hero Award.

Through his dedication to youth, community, and the game of hockey, Doug has helped create opportunities and inspire countless young athletes in Fredericton and beyond.

This national recognition is a testament to the positive impact Doug and the entire Rink Rebels organization continue to have on our community.

Yesterday, members of The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services stopped by to visit Fredericton Firefighters and share some delicious doughnuts in recognition of Doughnut Day.

Doughnut Day honours the legacy of the “Doughnut Lassies,” Salvation Army volunteers who provided comfort, support, and doughnuts to soldiers serving on the front lines during the First World War.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to The Salvation Army Emergency Disaster Services team for their visit and for the important work they do supporting communities and first responders during emergencies and disasters.

Partnerships like these remind us that service to others takes many forms, and we are grateful for those who stand ready to help when communities need it most.

Over the past week, your Fredericton Firefighters have responded to a significant number of motor vehicle collisions throughout our community, including several serious incidents and some with tragic outcomes.

These calls can have a lasting impact on everyone involved — the victims, their families, witnesses, and emergency responders.

As we move into the busy summer season, we are asking all motorists to slow down, stay focused, eliminate distractions, and drive according to road and weather conditions. A few extra seconds of caution can make all the difference.
