Friendly reminder: the BC Professional Fire Fighters' Burn Fund does not solicit donations by phone, and neither do our affiliate locals or their charitable societies. All of our fundraising is done through our website, social media channels, and events.

There are many great firefighter charities in BC, and if you're ever unsure who you're giving to, don't hesitate to ask for their full name and registered charity number.
We're always happy to confirm we're us.

Congratulations to this year's Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest winners! 🎨πŸ”₯

Seven talented young artists from across British Columbia brought this year's theme, "Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home", to life through their creativity and imagination. And a special shout-out to four classrooms whose teachers led the charge in making fire safety education part of their school year.

Through their artwork, these students helped spread a message that matters: how we buy, charge, and recycle lithium-ion batteries at home can make a real difference in keeping our families and communities safe.

Winning teachers have already been contacted about their classroom prizes, so keep an eye on your inbox!

Thank you to every student and educator who participated. Your work is making BC a safer place, one poster at a time.

Burn Camp 2026 is on. Applications are now open for survivors aged 8–18 to join us July 19–24 at the Cheakamus Centre in Squamish. Polar bear dips, swimming, hiking, the talent show, the water fight, the last-night dance - it's all waiting.

Volunteer applications are open too. Firefighters, burn survivors, doctors, nurses, and therapists give their time every year to make this week happen. The week would not be possible without every single one of them!

When a burn happens, every second counts. Follow these essential steps to treat the injury and prevent further damage:

Cool the burn: Use cool running water for at least 10 to 20 minutes.
Remove tight items: Take off rings, watches, or restrictive clothing if it is safe to do so before swelling starts.
Cover the area: Use a clean, dry dressing to protect the skin.
Get help: Seek first aid or professional medical help immediately for serious injuries.

Call to Action: Check your workplace first aid kit today to ensure you have clean, dry dressings ready for an emergency! 🀝
