On 29 September 2026, the GUARD-UP partnership gathered in Athens, Greece, for the project’s Final Conference, marking the conclusion of an important journey of collaboration, learning and shared commitment to strengthening guardianship systems for unaccompanied children across Europe.

Throughout the project, partners worked together to exchange knowledge, strengthen professional capacities and promote effective, child-centred guardianship practices that safeguard the rights and well-being of unaccompanied children.

The Final Conference provided an opportunity to reflect on the project’s achievements, share key outcomes and discuss how the knowledge and practices developed can continue to contribute to stronger guardianship systems beyond the project’s lifetime.

As the GUARD-UP project comes to a successful close, we extend our sincere thanks to all project partners, professionals and stakeholders who contributed to this important initiative.

While the project has officially concluded, our shared commitment to protecting children’s rights continues! 💙

Partners from the EmpowerED project came together in Nicosia, Cyprus, on 13–14 October for our Mid-Term Steering Committee Meeting, hosted by “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center.

Over two days, we reflected on progress, shared experiences from local workshops, and planned the next steps towards more inclusive and participatory education for young people.

Discussions explored how to adapt activities to different contexts, address barriers to participation, and ensure that young people’s voices help shape the project.

Thank you to all our partners for their contributions and continued collaboration!

20 χρόνια στην Κύπρο: μια διαδρομή με σκοπό και όραμα

Πριν από δύο δεκαετίες, ο Joseph Borghese έκανε την Κύπρο σπίτι του, όπου σύντομα έθεσε ως στόχο να αλλάξει τις ζωές των παιδιών. Αυτό το όραμα έγινε το , ένας οργανισμός αφοσιωμένος στην προστασία και την προώθηση των δικαιωμάτων κάθε παιδιού.

Σήμερα, το Hope For Children είναι ένας ισχυρός και βιώσιμος οργανισμός που εργοδοτεί περισσότερους από 100 επαγγελματίες. Με αυτά τα γερά θεμέλια, ο Joseph έστρεψε την ενέργειά του σε νέα εγχειρήματα και δημιούργησε τις δικές του επιτυχημένες επιχειρήσεις, αποδεικνύοντας ότι η κοινωνική προσφορά και η επιχειρηματικότητα μπορούν να συμβαδίζουν.

Στο νεό τεύχος του GOLD Magazine, ο Joseph αναπολεί τη διαδρομή 20 χρόνων, από την ίδρυση του Hope For Children μέχρι τις επιχειρηματικές του δραστηριότητες, και μοιράζεται το όραμά του για το μέλλον.

Every child deserves the magic of theatre! 🌟
The Cyprus Centre of Theatre for Children and Young People – Κέντρο Θεάτρου για Παιδιά και Νεαρά Άτομα - Assitej Cyprus has provided for yet another year free tickets to attend theatrical productions presented in this years Mitsikouri Performing Arts Festival for Children and Young People 2026 to serviced by the various programs of “Hope For Children” CRC Policy Center – many for the very first time. This donation was made possible by sponsorships to ASSITEJ Cyprus from the Andrey & Julia Dashin's Foundation and Exinity.

Art, storytelling and performance have the power to inspire, heal and bring pure joy. Through this initiative by barriers are being broken down so that every young mind- regardless of their circumstances – can experience the wonder of live performing arts.

Σεξουαλική Ανάπτυξη και Διαπαιδαγώγηση Παιδιών και Εφήβων

Πώς μιλάμε στα παιδιά και στους εφήβους για το σώμα, τα όρια, τη συναίνεση, τις σχέσεις και τη σεξουαλικότητα;

Πώς ξεχωρίζουμε τις αναμενόμενες από τις ανησυχητικές σεξουαλικές συμπεριφορές; Και, κυρίως, πώς μπορούμε ως επαγγελματίες να λειτουργήσουμε προληπτικά και να δημιουργήσουμε ασφαλή περιβάλλοντα για τα παιδιά; Πώς εμπλέκουμε τους γονείς και με ποιο τρόπο ανοίγουμε μια τέτοια συζήτηση;

Το εκπαιδευτικό πρόγραμμα του Hope For Children CRC Policy Center απευθύνεται σε επαγγελματίες ψυχοκοινωνικών υπηρεσιών και συνδυάζει θεωρητική κατάρτιση και βιωματικές ασκήσεις.

Strengthening child protection through collaboration!

Staff from the Children’s House in Cyprus participated in the Barnahus-FRAME regional seminars in Bucharest, Târgu Mureș and Iași, Romania, sharing Cyprus’s experience and good practices in implementing the Barnahus model.

The seminars brought together professionals to discuss child protection legislation, multidisciplinary cooperation, child-friendly interviews and opportunities to strengthen and expand the Barnahus model in Romania.

Together, we work towards more coordinated, child-friendly support for children affected by violence.
The project is co-funded by the CERV-2025-DAPHNE programme of the European Commission (Ref.no 101254676)
