*Important survey on the value of the Third Sector in Gwent*
Torfaen Voluntary Alliance and Gwent Association of Voluntary Organisations (GAVO) have commissioned delivery of a one-off strategic project exploring and evidencing the value of the third sector in Gwent. The work will focus on early intervention, prevention, and cost avoidance for public services.
The findings will help inform future commissioning, policy, and investment decisions across Gwent.

Cofiwch Aberfan | Remember Aberfan
The Wales we know and live in today has been shaped by the coal industry. The "cost" of coal exacted a heavy price on human life for centuries, but nothing can compare to the tragedy of Aberfan.
On 21 October 1966 at 9:13am, a colliery spoil tip collapsed and slid down a mountainside in a small Welsh village, engulfing Pantglas Junior school and around 20 houses. 144 people were killed, 116 of them children.
Today, we feel it is fitting to highlight the ongoing work of the Aberfan Memorial Charity. The charity continues to raise funds each year to maintain the Aberfan Memorial Garden and cemetery memorials, which were upgraded by the charity in 2007. The garden, which is on the site of the former Pantglas Junior School, remains a tranquil place for reflection and to preserve the memory of those who died.

SHW'MAE!
Diwrnod Shw'mae Hapus! / Happy Shw'mae Day!
Every year on October 15th, we celebrate Diwrnod Shwmae – a day to encourage everyone to start conversations in Welsh, no matter how much or how little you know. It’s all about giving it a go!
By saying “Shwmae!” (Hi!) or “Su’mae!”, we show that Welsh belongs to all of us and that using it in daily life can be simple, friendly, and fun.
Let’s celebrate our language and culture — one “Shwmae” at a time!
----
Bob blwyddyn ar Hydref 15, rydyn ni’n dathlu Diwrnod Shw'mae – diwrnod i annog pawb i ddechrau sgwrs yn Gymraeg, waeth faint o Gymraeg sydd gennych chi. Mae’n ymwneud â rhoi cynnig arni!
Drwy ddweud “Shw'mae!” neu “Su’mae!”, rydyn ni’n dangos bod y Gymraeg yn perthyn i bawb ac y gall ei defnyddio bob dydd fod yn syml, cyfeillgar ac yn hwyl.
Dathlwn ein hiaith a’n diwylliant — un “Shw'mae” ar y tro!
