This week we have proudly celebrated the incredible work of our more than 400 volunteers across the Trust who generously give their time to support our patients, visitors and staff every day. Their compassion, kindness and commitment make a real and lasting difference to the experience of care and to our teams.
To mark this invaluable contribution, the volunteering team at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital hosted their annual celebrations at each site with some well deserved cake and treats! ππ

Last night, the documentary 'Fighting Endometriosis' presented by broadcaster and journalist Emma Barnett was aired on BBC 2.
The documentary featured specialists from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, including Dr Thomas Bainton, Consultant Gynaecologist and Robotic Surgeon, and explored the harsh realities faced by women living with endometriosis.
As part of the documentary, the film crew followed patient Madalitso through her treatment journey at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, documenting both the physical and emotional toll the condition has had on her life.

It is Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Week 2026, and Diabetes UK alongside NHS England are launching their 'Know Your Risk' campaign, aiming to raise awareness of the risk of type 2 diabetes and how to reduce it.
Anyone can develop type 2 diabetes, but certain factors can increase your risk, such as being over 40.
Check your risk using the Diabetes UK risk tool. It could be the most important thing you do today: riskscore.diabetes.org.uk

Throughout Dementia Action Week, colleagues across our Trust came together to raise awareness, challenge stigma and support everyone affected by dementia.
The Dementia Team hosted a series of interactive events across both hospital sites, giving staff the opportunity to learn more about dementia care, ask questions and explore resources designed to support patients living with dementia. There was even a special visit from Atticus, the therapy dog!

Last week, we marked Sun Awareness Week and celebrated the launch of our partnership between the Trust, our charity CW+ and La Roche-Posay with a panel discussion and AI skin-check event attended by stakeholders, media, and medical influencers.
Chaired by Caroline OβNeill, Managing Director for L'OrΓ©al Dermatological Beauty, the panel featured Dr Lucy Thomas and Dr Louise Fearfield, consultant dermatologists at the Trust. They shared their expertise on improving skin cancer prevention and highlighted the impact of AI-driven teledermatology at the Trust to date.
Our patient advocates delivered a powerful message: faster assessment not only saves lives but also significantly reduces the anxiety associated with waiting and uncertainty.
This partnership demonstrates the value of NHS and industry working together to support research, education, and improved patient access, with a shared goal of enhancing long-term health outcomes. Read more:

Over the past two weeks, we marked three important awareness days β International Day of the Midwife, International Nurses Day and National Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) Day. These important days recognise the dedication, skill and impact of colleagues working across maternity, nursing and theatres. πππ
For this, the Trust hosted their first ever Nursing and Midwifery Conference at Hounslow House on 11 May, showcasing the unique and collective contributions of various projects led by our nursing and midwifery colleagues that make a difference to patients, teams and communities.
At West Middlesex Hospital, the Nursing team hosted a variety show event with various nursing staff showcasing their talents through singing, dancing and guitar performances.
There were also ward deliveries throughout the week, where special treats where given to our nurses, midwives and ODPs.
Lastly, the week culminated with a Trust wide interactive quiz led by the Nursing, Midwifery and ODP teams, where staff where quizzed about the NHS and the Trust.
Thank you to all of our incredible nursing, midwifery and ODP workforce who continuously deliver outstanding patient-centred care. π

"There aren't many specialities within healthcare that afford staff the opportunity to care for such a huge range of patients. From neonates to burns victims, the theatre teams we work alongside are a credit to both the nursing and the ODP profession. I am very proud to be an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) and to be apart of such a fantastic team."
Today is , and here Jessica, Senior ODP and Clinical Skills Facilitator, shares how ODPs play a vital role in healthcare and who make surgeries possible. π
