Earlier this week, colleagues from across the Trust came together to celebrate Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with special events and activities. 🕯️💗🧡

The celebrations provided a wonderful opportunity to recognise and embrace the rich cultural diversity of our workforce. Staff enjoyed a range of traditional activities, including rangoli art, mehndi (henna), cultural displays, traditional sweets and chai, as well as a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity through fashion and music.

The events brought colleagues together to learn more about the traditions and significance of Diwali, while reflecting the inclusive and welcoming culture that makes our Trust such a special place to work. Thank you to everyone who helped organise and support the celebrations.

To all colleagues, patients and members of our community celebrating Diwali, I would like to wish you and your families a very happy .

This weekend, we’re making an important upgrade to our IT systems, which means there will be some temporary changes to services at 56 Dean Street Services, the John Hunter Clinic (JHC) and 10 Hammersmith Broadway (10HB).

🗓️ Saturday 7 November: All services will be closed.
🗓️ Monday 9 November: Routine services will be closed, but emergency contraception and PEP will still be available.
🗓️ Tuesday 10 November: Services will begin reopening from 12pm.

If you are a medical patient with a booked appointment, your appointment will go ahead as planned.

During the IT upgrade, our clinic teams will unfortunately be unable to access or provide test results or book appointments. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience while we complete this important work.

There are lots of reasons to get vaccinated. For staff at our Trust, it might be about protecting patients, looking after family and colleagues or helping keep our teams healthy through winter.

Here Matthew shares his reason for choosing to take up the flu jab.

Eligible groups, including NHS workers, over 65s, pregnant people can still get the free jab.

Congratulations to Sharron Brown, HIV Facial Lipoatrophy Clinical Nurse Specialist, who has been recognised for her contribution to aesthetic nursing. Sharron received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the BAMAN - British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses.

Sharron has been with the Trust for over 40 years and now works as an HIV Facial Lipoatrophy Clinical Nurse Specialist. From co-leading BACN's involvement in the NMC revalidation pilot to contributing to the Nuffield Council on Bioethics' work on ethical issues in cosmetic procedures, Sharron has been instrumental in strengthening the foundations of safe and ethical practice.

Well done Sharron for your dedication, leadership and outstanding service!

We were delighted to welcome the Chelsea Football Club's Under 12 Academy team to Chelsea and Westminster Hospital on Sunday. They shared a collection of artwork inspired by Flanders Fields and poetry about the poppies, exploring how wartime experiences have contributed to advances in medicine and healthcare.

The team presented their wonderful canvas artwork to the Trust and were welcomed by Tim Hardiman, Deputy Head of Site Operations, who is also a member of the Trust's Armed Forces Network.

As we head into the winter months, vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and others from seasonal viruses, while helping to reduce pressure on healthcare services. 🤧💙

The flu vaccine is available to all NHS staff and other eligible groups, including people aged 65 and over, pregnant women, and those who are immunosuppressed.

The COVID-19 vaccine is also available for certain eligible groups. To find out more and check your eligibility, search ‘vaccinations’ on the NHS website.

On Wednesday 21 October, the British Dyslexia Association delivered a dyslexia awareness training session at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital following earlier in the month.

The session aimed to help staff develop a better understanding of , reasonable adjustments and how we can create a more inclusive workplace.

Well done to everyone who presented and participated in the vital session. 👏💙
