Celebrating world cultural diversity day for dialogue and development

At Voyage Youth, we honour the richness of cultures, identities and lived experiences that shape our communities. Diversity is not just something we acknowledge it鈥檚 something we learn from, celebrate and centre in what we do.

Today we highlight and celebrate unity in our differences and the power of young people leading cultural change.

Black youth work is essential for prevention. But it is still being ignored in funding. This report brings together evidence from across London, from practitioners, Black-led organisations, sector voices, and the London Assembly.

The evidence is there.
Now the action needs to follow.

Our heritage doesn始t stop at borders. As young people in the UK, understanding global heritage means recognising the roots that ground us, and the stories, histories, and struggles that shape our present and future.

We honour them not just to remember, but to understand who we are.

This May, we lost an inspiring and empowering soul. Today, we honour the passing of a beloved Windrush elder, Lessept Saunders.

His journey was never easy, but his life taught us that endurance is not only about surviving hardship, but also about finding meaning, hope, and strength through it. Les hoped that by sharing his story in our Stories of Windrush book, others would face their challenges with courage, seek connection, and find strength within themselves and their communities.

Lessept lived longer than many, over a century, and during his time, Les served, provided, persevered, and became one of the founders of the local Caribbean Community Centre, helping to build a sanctuary of support, culture, and companionship for generations to come.

We're proud to honour and remember his remarkable legacy.
Read more about his story in our Windrush book which will soon be archived on our website.

Voyage Youth is more than a charity! We始re a movement for youth empowerment, social justice, and real change in London.

We work with young Black people and underrepresented communities, tackling racial inequality, social exclusion, and barriers to education and employment turning potential into leadership. Through our programmes, young people gain qualifications, mentorship, real-world experience, and a platform to be heard building the skills, confidence, and voice to transform their futures and their communities.

Because at Voyage, we don始t just support young people we create leaders, amplify voices, and drive change from within.

We始re talking traditions, cultures, places, and stories passed down through generations.

As young people in the UK, we have a role in protecting and sharing these stories. Through our Voyage Archivers project, we始re documenting and preserving heritage so it始s never lost and can be passed on for generations to come.

Join us in keeping our stories alive.
