As the bonfires burn and the evenings turn colder, there’s something lovely about lighting a candle and settling in for a cosy evening indoors.

Introducing The Old Kitchens, the first fragrance Lady Cara developed for the Birdsall House candle collection.

Inspired by the transformation of this much-loved space following its extensive renovation in 2024, the fragrance captures the atmosphere of The Old Kitchens today. Once a derelict set of Victorian kitchens, the space has been reimagined as a welcoming setting for entertaining, complete with a cocktail lounge, nightclub and sofa’s you can sink into.

Keen to create an experience that appealed to every sense, Cara wanted a fragrance that reflected the warmth and character of a sophisticated speakeasy. Notes of pomegranate and leather combine to create a rich, inviting scent with a depth that feels indulgent yet welcoming.

Led by Lady Cara, the team brings together a wealth of experience, creativity and attention to detail, ensuring every event is thoughtfully planned and beautifully delivered here at Birdsall House.

Grace Bird works alongside Harriet to coordinate weddings at Birdsall House, helping to ensure every detail comes together seamlessly and each couple's day unfolds just as they had imagined.

Harriet Morris-Baumber oversees the planning of weddings, private parties and corporate hospitality, bringing inspiration, drive, determination and meticulous attention to detail to every event.

Nicki Copley manages our social media, narrating the stories, people and everyday life that make Birdsall Estate so special.

Lady Cara Willoughby, alongside her husband James, leads the team with warmth, good humour and a hands-on approach, ensuring every guest feels welcome in their home.

Together, we bring a diverse range of skills and experience to the table, with a shared commitment to making every event individual, memorable and beautifully considered.

There have been strange noises in the night, a few familiar faces have returned from the dead, and rather suspiciously, a bloodied weapon has been found.

I think we may need call a Round Table…but the question is - who can we trust?

The Billiard Room.

Created for cooler evenings, glowing fires and the quieter moments of autumn, this is a scent with depth, warmth and character.

Rethinking networking, one conversation (and cocktail) at a time.

Bringing together business leaders from across Yorkshire, the Birdsall Black Book offers an opportunity to make new connections and strengthen existing ones in the relaxed yet glamorous surroundings of The Old Kitchens at Birdsall House.

We believe networking should be more than coffee and formal introductions. Here at Birdsall, we prefer to do things a little differently. Expertly mixed cocktails, exquisite canapés and a little friendly rivalry around the casino tables.

The Linen Room.

Introducing our third scent in the new Birdsall House candle range.

Inspired by freshly laundered linen sheets hanging in the summer breeze, this is a scent made for quiet moments. Soft lavender brings a sense of calm, while bergamot adds a gentle brightness.

The Linen Room is the perfect companion to the end of a busy day, ideal for bedrooms and bathrooms and especially lovely alongside a long, relaxing bath after a day of celebrations.

Lady Cara keeps this one on her desk in the event office, bringing a little calm to the whole team throughout the day.

A little moment of peace, wherever you choose to light it.

Once the servants’ quarters of Birdsall House during the Victorian era, The Old Kitchens has been transformed into a speakeasy-inspired cocktail bar and nightclub and one of our most characterful event spaces.

We love when our clients think outside the box, whether that means an intimate jazz evening, a glamorous casino night or something delightfully spooky for Halloween.

Our ostentation of peacocks have become rather iconic here at Birdsall House.

First arriving in the 1970s, they have been part of life at Birdsall for generations. Today, our colourful flock numbers around 30 and we’ve been delighted to welcome a few new additions this year, with some of our peahens hatching chicks.

We’re often asked whether each peacock has a name. While they don’t all have official names, a few of the more characterful members of the flock have certainly earned themselves nicknames!

When night falls, our peacocks have a favourite spot to roost: the large cedar tree beside the house, whose sturdy branches make the perfect place to settle for the night.

Whether wandering through the gardens, perched proudly on the verandah or posing by the monastic ruins, they are very much part of the Birdsall family. No visit to Birdsall House feels quite complete without an encounter with one of our most colourful residents. 🦚

The Glass House

Introducing our second scent in the Birdsall House candle range. The Glass House is a warm, botanical embrace drawn from Birdsall’s ancient greenhouses. The scent captures the rich, fuzzy scent of tomato vines, soil, and ripe summer bounty; earthy and familiar, like warm terracotta in the sun.

It is the most unusual and distinctive scents in the range and a firm favourite in our events office.

Ideally for conservatories and kitchen spaces.

Think: wicker baskets, muddy boots, and the satisfying scent of ripening things.
