🚒 INCIDENT | Woodland Fire 🔥🌳

Crews from Wirksworth and Matlock Fire Stations recently attended a fire in woodland, where firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and prevent any further spread into the surrounding vegetation.

The photos are a stark reminder of just how easily a small fire can spread, particularly when the ground and vegetation are dry.

🔥 Please leave the BBQ at home when heading into our countryside.

Disposable BBQs and open fires can retain a huge amount of heat and have the potential to ignite surrounding grass, woodland and vegetation. Barbecues and open flames are not permitted in the open countryside across the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales.

🌳 Our countryside is there for everyone to enjoy but it only takes one spark to cause a potentially devastating fire.

Please help us protect our beautiful local area, wildlife and communities:
• Don’t use disposable BBQs or light fires in the countryside
• Dispose of ci******es responsibly
• Take your litter home
• If you see a fire, get to a safe place and call 999

🚒 Wirksworth & Matlock crews working together to keep our communities and countryside safe.

Road Traffic Collision...

We were called to a report of a road traffic collision earlier this evening just after Middleton Top - reports came through as it was a car vs motorbike and the car was potentially on fire.

Upon attending it turned out that it was only a car involved and no one was injured. And the vehicle was not on fire.

Thanks to Wirksworth Fire Station and Amber Valley LPU for assisting.

Driver has been given a Traffic Offence Report for driving without due care and attention.
