Another learning opportunity for all the children to explore. 🐞🐛🦟🪲🪳🐜

We have been following the journey of our butterflies in the setting, and as a team we set up a tough tray inspired by the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. This was a great way to extend the children’s learning. The children thoroughly enjoyed scooping the rice and feeding the caterpillar too.

We also went to our bug hotel…. Stay tuned as we will be posting a craft families can do at home over the half term to encourage bugs into the garden…

It’s National Bee Day on Wednesday, but we’ll be celebrating throughout the week so that all of the children can join in the fun on their different days with us. 🐝

Today we explored using playdough and created some wonderful bee-inspired creations. The children showed lots of imagination and creativity!

We’re also very excited because our lovely Jolly Bees will be visiting us in a couple of weeks — we can’t wait for the children to meet them and learn even more about these amazing little creatures. 💛🖤

A day full of creativity, imagination, messy play and lots of smiles 💛

A new Best Start Family Hub is set to come to Daventry town centre as part of our ongoing work to give children the best possible start in life.

Plans are underway to make use of the two empty units at Mulberry Place, next to the Arc Cinema, offering a more central, modern and accessible site for families, compared to the current hub in Staverton Road.

Work to convert the units is due to start later this year, with the existing hub in Staverton Road remaining open as usual until the new one opens.

Part of our Best Start in Life programme, Family Hubs bring a range of support services together under one roof, offering information, advice and activities.

On Friday we started a new approach to our snack shopping and we’re really excited about it! We’ve created two new snack menus that we’ll alternate each week.

To help involve the children and give them more choice, we are now writing a shopping list together and taking a small group to the shop to buy snacks for the following week 😊

Our four little shoppers had a fantastic time choosing fruits and vegetables and were brilliant at finding everything on the shelves!

A lovely way to build independence, confidence, and real-life skills 🛒✨

Sorry we’ve been a little quiet — it’s been a super busy few weeks!

Today we visited our bug area and explored the surroundings. We discovered spiders and even a caterpillar, which made a wonderful connection to our current learning, especially as we are observing our own caterpillars growing in preschool. It was a lovely outdoor session filled with curiosity and discovery.
