The impact of shoplifting and street crime on the local community was the focus of a visit to Kingsthorpe this week.
Leader of the Council Mark Arnull joined Police, Fire & Crime Commissioner for Northamptonshire Danielle Stone and local beat officers for the walk-around, meeting shopkeepers and businesses to hear first-hand the impact these crimes are having.
We’re committed to working alongside traders, the Commissioner, the police and other partners to ensure residents feel safe when visiting shops in their local communities – not only in Kingsthorpe but across the whole of West Northamptonshire.

This , we’d like to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers across West Northamptonshire for everything you do to support communities.
People like Elizabeth, an apprentice in our Central Business Support Team and a Deputy Unit Commander with the Northamptonshire Emergency Services Cadets.
Elizabeth joined as a cadet aged 14 and stepped into a leadership role at 18. She now helps run the unit, supports its administration, and plays a key role in helping cadets build confidence, teamwork and communication - skills that will stay with them for life.
Thank you, Elizabeth - and thank you to every volunteer making a difference. 💙

Last week, we were delighted to host a community event at Briar Hill, bringing together young people, families and local residents for a day full of fun, activity and community spirit.
There was something for everyone to enjoy, with a great range of activities on offer including sports, arts and crafts, and even axe throwing! It was wonderful to see so many people getting involved and making the most of the day.
A huge thank you goes to all the volunteers from Northamptonshire Association of Youth Clubs (NAYC), Clubs for Young People Northamptonshire (CYPN) and the Community Café. Your support, enthusiasm and hard work helped make the event such a success, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you do for the community.
We're always looking for ways to make Briar Hill an even better place for young people and the wider community. If you have any ideas, suggestions or feedback, we'd love to hear from you. Please get in touch at [email protected].
