What a wonderful story from our Shared Lives Carer Lin, following a recent trip to Mamma Mia at the outdoor cinema!

"A fun evening was had by all, with John taking a lead role the conga line! 💃🕺

At the disco afterwards, everyone signed “Thank You for the Music” together — a truly special moment that didn’t go unnoticed by a stranger at the event who approached us afterwards to share how deeply moved he had been watching everyone having such a good time.

This heartfelt response was a beautiful reminder of how Shared Lives support is not only enriching the lives of those directly involved, but also touching the hearts of others around them… a moment of genuine kindness that brought a tear or two 🥲

Sunday was just as fun, with all three enjoying a pool match in the new games room 🎱"

Big congratulations to Sean on an amazing achievement! 🎉
Through our Shared Lives service in the West Midlands, Sean has been building confidence, independence and real-life skills, and now he’s reached an exciting milestone… he’s secured a full-time job!

Shared Lives is a unique form of support, where adults with learning disabilities are matched with families for long-term, short-term or day placements. Being part of a supportive household offers stability, routine and encouragement, helping people to grow in confidence, develop practical skills, and feel part of their community.

It’s this personalised, relationship-based support that can make all the difference – opening up opportunities like employment and greater independence.

We’re so proud of Sean and everything he’s achieved. 💚

We’re supporting a young man who is non-verbal and requires significant assistance with personal care, communication, and managing behaviours. This is your chance to play a vital role in his life—helping create a stable, safe, and nurturing environment where he can feel understood and supported.

This is a paid, professional opportunity where your patience, resilience, and genuine care will make a lasting impact. You’ll be part of a supportive network too, with full training and ongoing guidance from our Shared Lives team.

Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives are looking for the right person to provide frequent short-break support within a Shared Lives family for an individual with complex needs.

We are seeking someone to support a young man who is non-verbal, with significant needs relating to personal care, behaviour, and communication.

This is a paid, professional opportunity to make a meaningful and lasting difference—providing stability, understanding, and truly person-centred support within a family home environment.

We’re looking for someone who can bring patience, resilience, and a genuine commitment to supporting a young person with higher levels of need, while creating a safe and supportive space where he can thrive.

You won’t be on your own—full training, guidance, and ongoing support will be provided as part of our Shared Lives community.
