Two staff of the National Malaria Control Programme (NMCP) Omar Jallow and Samuel S. Gomez have just concluded a two weeks Seminar on the Application of Artemisinin in Malaria Control Strategies held in Beijing, China. This training brought together malaria program representatives and other Ministry of Health (MoH) staff from different countries to strengthen technical capacity, share experiences, and explore innovations in artemisininโ€‘based malaria prevention and treatment. Participants were engaged in practical sessions, field visits, and collaborative discussions aimed at improving therapeutic efficacy, malaria case management and progressive elimination efforts.
This will support the ongoing National Malaria Elimination (NME) Strategies and contributes to high level commitments to Malaria free Gambia.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all stakeholders and partners for their commitment, dedication, and sacrifices throughout this critical process. Your collective efforts exemplify the spirit of collaboration required to achieve our shared vision.
Together, we can eliminate malaria not someday, but in our lifetime.

In Commemoration of World Malaria Day (WMD) 2026, the Ministry of Health The Gambia through National Malaria Control Program with partners/stakeholders gathered today in Farato Kombo South Western Health Region 2 under the
The theme reflects two truths that belong together. We can end malaria โ€“ not someday, but in our lifetime.
It called everyone (government, global donors, partners/stakeholders, communities) to action and to reaffirm once more that ๐™๐ž๐ซ๐จ ๐Œ๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ซ๐ข๐š ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐Œ๐ž, ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐˜๐จ๐ฎ ๐š๐ง๐ ๐’๐ญ๐š๐ซ๐ญ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐”๐ฌ towards achieving our goal of eliminating malaria in our country by re-committing ourselves to championing country ownership and leadership, ensure consistent partner support and accelerate innovation, through our communities by sleeping under insecticide treated bed nets, seek early diagnosis and treatment, accepting all other interventions that are brought to our door step and their full utilization as pillars and drivers for malaria control and elimination. For our partners to continue to walk with us, invest in sustainable solutions, and help us turn the dream of a malaria-free Gambia into reality where malaria is no longer a threat to our children, our families, or our nation.
The commemoration ended with the presentation of iCCM Commodities to the Ministry by the The Gambia Red Cross Society under the CIDCA fund for Accelerating Malaria Elimination Project.
