Recently, Regional Chairman of Barima-Waini (Region One), Mr. Brentnol Ashley commissioned a newly constructed bleacher at the Black Water Playfield, a project that will enhance the sporting experience for athletes, supporters, and the wider community while promoting youth development through sports.

Later in the evening, the Chairman also commissioned a new Guest House in the community of Wauna, further supporting tourism, community development, and economic opportunities within the sub-region.

These important initiatives were made possible through funding from the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs, reflecting the Government of Guyana's continued commitment to improving infrastructure and enhancing the quality of life in hinterland communities.

Together, these projects represent another step forward in building stronger, more vibrant communities across Region One.

Regional Executive Officer of Potaro-Siparuni (Region Eight), Marti DeSouza, recently visited the site identified by the Campbelltown Village Council for the construction of a new Practical Instruction Centre (PIC).

The proposed facility is expected to serve residents of Campbelltown, Mahdia, and surrounding communities, bringing accessible skills training opportunities closer to home and reducing the need for residents to travel outside the region to access technical education.

Once completed, the Practical Instruction Centre will offer training in five key skill areas identified as most relevant to the needs of the sub-district.

The initiative will provide young people with the opportunity to acquire practical, marketable skills and earn recognized certification within their own community, enhancing employability and supporting local development.
