Katoonarib residents contributed their ideas to shape new opportunities for their community. 🌱

The Small Business Bureau (SBB) recently conducted a Community Development Projects (CDP) consultation in Katoonarib, South Central Rupununi Savannahs, Region Nine.

SBB Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Shazim Ibrahim, Ryad Adams, Manager of the Lethem Business Incubator Centre, and other members of the SBB team engaged residents on the community’s needs and potential opportunities for development.

Residents explored agricultural projects that could be pursued collectively, including hydroponics farming, shade-house crop production, aquaculture and apiculture. The discussion also considered how crops grown within the community could support agro-processing and the production of value-added products such as farine, indigenous flours, packaged teas, seasonings and mango pulp.

The team also shared information on training opportunities available through SBB, including the Small Business Operations Certificate, as well as financing opportunities available through the Guyana Development Bank.

SBB thanks the residents of Katoonarib for their participation and valuable contributions. Their views will help the Bureau assess local interest and identify opportunities that may be suitable for the community.

Shulinab residents shared their vision for community development. 🌱

The Small Business Bureau (SBB) recently conducted a Community Development Projects (CDP) consultation in Shulinab, South Central Rupununi Savannahs, Region Nine.

SBB Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Shazim Ibrahim, Ryad Adams, Manager of the Lethem Business Incubator Centre, and other members of the SBB team met with residents to discuss the community’s needs and explore potential opportunities for development.

Residents considered agricultural projects that could be undertaken collectively, including hydroponics farming, shade-house crop production, aquaculture and apiculture. The meeting also examined opportunities for the village to grow crops for agro-processing and develop value-added products such as farine, indigenous flours, packaged teas, seasonings and mango pulp.

The SBB team also introduced residents to training and business-development opportunities, including the Small Business Operations Certificate, and shared information on financing available through the Guyana Development Bank.

SBB thanks the residents of Shulinab for their participation and valuable contributions. Their input will help the Bureau better understand the community’s interests and identify opportunities that may support sustainable economic activity.

The Community Development Projects conversation continued in Mariwa. 🌱

The Small Business Bureau (SBB) recently met with residents of Mariwa, South Central Rupununi Savannahs, Region Nine, as part of its ongoing Community Development Projects (CDP) consultations.

The SBB delegation included Chief Executive Officer Mohamed Shazim Ibrahim, Ryad Adams, Manager of the Lethem Business Incubator Centre, and other members of the SBB team.

During the consultation, residents shared their community’s needs and considered potential group-led agricultural projects, including hydroponics farming, shade-house crop production, aquaculture and apiculture.

The conversation extended beyond crop production to explore opportunities for agro-processing and value addition. Residents discussed how locally grown produce could be transformed into products such as farine, indigenous flours, packaged teas, seasonings and mango pulp, creating additional income-generating opportunities for the community.

Residents also learned about SBB’s training programmes, including the Small Business Operations Certificate, and the financing opportunities available through the Guyana Development Bank.

SBB appreciates the participation of Mariwa residents. Their feedback will support the Bureau’s assessment of local interest and help guide the next steps under the CDP programme.

Good financial records help businesses make better decisions. 📊

Today, 27 participants began the Small Business Bureau’s two-day Financial Management and Recordkeeping training. The session, which concludes tomorrow, 15 October, is helping participants strengthen how they track income and expenses and manage their business finances.

The training forms part of the Government of Guyana’s continued support for the growth and development of small businesses.
