This year, Dr. Shroff's Charity Eye Hospital marked 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 (𝐌𝐚𝐲 10–16) with a full week of activities, bringing together children, their families, doctors, staff, and volunteers.

Through the week, children created art, performed on stage, and SCEH staff submitted reels on the theme "𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐞," sharing their stories in their own words. A photo booth on early detection was set up for patients and visitors. Doctors and staff ran the "𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘚𝘱𝘰𝘵 𝘊𝘢𝘧é," contributing homemade food to raise awareness and support for these families.

Beyond Delhi, our centres in Alwar, Mohammadi, Saharanpur, and Vrindavan held their own awareness sessions, competitions, and community training programmes.

At the heart of the week was our Survivors' Holistic Clinic, where nearly 30 𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐚 came in for a complete review covering eye care, nutrition, psychology, genetics, and education. Every single one of them was in school and progressing well.

Retinoblastoma is a type of eye cancer that affects young children. It is rare, but it is also treatable, especially when caught early.

ग्लूकोमा एक ऐसी बीमारी है।

भारत में लाखों लोग ग्लूकोमा के साथ जी रहे हैं और उन्हें इसका पता भी नहीं।
लेकिन अगर समय पर जाँच हो, तो नज़र बचाई जा सकती है।

गाँव की गलियों में, दरवाज़े-दरवाज़े जाकर जब हमने स्क्रीनिंग की, तो हम उनसे बार-बार मिले। वो माँ जिसने सालों से अपनी आँखें नहीं दिखाईं। वो माँ जो कहती है, "सबसे पहले मेरा परिवार आता है, उसके बाद मैं।" वो माँ जिसके घर वालों को लगा कि उसकी धुंधली नज़र इतनी ज़रूरी नहीं।

भारत में 55 करोड़ से ज़्यादा लोग ऐसे हैं जिनकी नज़र कमज़ोर है और इलाज हुआ नहीं। इनमें सबसे ज़्यादा तकलीफ़ उठाती हैं गाँव की माताएँ, जो खुद को हमेशा आखिरी पर रखती हैं।
