CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) inaugurated a four-day Skill Development Training Programme on "Protein Extraction, Separation and Analysis from Mammalian Cancer cell lines" today (2nd June 2026) under CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative (Phase-III). This training is scheduled from 2nd - 5th June 2026, brings together 10 PG students in Life Sciences from Aurora’s Degree and PG College, Hyderabad fostering hands-on expertise in cutting-edge biological techniques.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. D. Srinivasa Reddy, Director, CSIR-IICT and delivered the inaugural address. Dr. Shasi Vardhan Kalivendi, Scientist - G & Chair, Applied Biology, Dr. Pravin R. Likhar, Scientist - G & Chair, Business Development & Research Management, Dr. M. C. Ajay Kumar, Principal, Aurora’s Degree and PG College along with Dr. A.V. Subrahmanya Sarma, Scientist - G & Coordinator, Skill Development Committee – have shared their insightful remarks. Dr. T. Anjana Devi, Scientist - F & Course Coordinator – welcomed all participants and briefed about the skill training. Dr. C. Yogesh, Scientist - C proposed vote of thanks. CSIR–Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT), Hyderabad participated in the Academic Success Meet–2026 organized by Telangana Tribal Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TGTWREIS) on 30 May 2026 at Babu Jagjivan Ram Bhavan, Jubilee Hills, Hyderabad.
The event brought together students, educators, scientists, and policymakers to celebrate academic achievements and promote higher education and research opportunities. CSIR-IICT signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TGTWREIS to support tribal students through internships, research exposure, scientific training, academic mentoring, and skill development programmes. ✨ Rashtriya Boudhik Sampada Mahotsav – National IP Festival–2026 Concluded Successfully at CSIR-IICT ✨
The National Intellectual Property Festival–2026 at CSIR-IICT concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from scientists, scholars, students, and staff, promoting awareness on Intellectual Property Rights, innovation, and technology commercialization during 22–26 May 2026. The festival began with an inspiring inaugural session, where Dr. Pravin R. Likhar highlighted the growing role of IPR in technology translation and strengthening the institute’s IP ecosystem, while presenting the steadily expanding patent portfolio of the institute. As part of the celebrations, “IP Sparks – MCQ Competition” and the Extempore “Pick & Speak” Competition were conducted successfully, showcasing participants’ knowledge and communication skills on IPR-related themes.
The concluding day featured an IPR Awareness Walk from the Workshop Gate to the Discovery Building, symbolizing collective commitment towards innovation and IP awareness. During the valedictory session, Dr. Raju Gurrapu summarized the activities conducted during the festival. Dr. Nettem V. Choudary emphasized the importance of value addition through IP for commercialization and the strategic role of reactive IP filing for technology protection. Dr. D. S. Reddy, Director, CSIR-IICT, highlighted the institute’s significant growth in patent filings, increasing from 21 filings in FY21 to 72 filings in FY25. He congratulated the researchers and appreciated the efforts of the IP Management Team in strengthening the institute’s IP culture and organizing awareness initiatives.

Pleased to share the recent publication on “Structure-Guided Discovery of a Bis-Pyridyl Diamine-Based Dual CDK7/9 Inhibitor with In Vitro and In Vivo Antitumor Efficacy in Glioblastoma Multiforme” by Dr. Sandip B. Bharate & Dr. Sai Balaji Andugulapati’s groups from CSIR-IICT.
This work marks a promising breakthrough in glioblastoma (GBM) research. GNE-3511, a potent CDK9/T1 inhibitor, demonstrated strong anti-tumor activity against aggressive brain cancer cells and improved survival in preclinical models, highlighting its potential as a next-generation therapeutic candidate for GBM treatment.
