Electoral boundaries in sections of St. Catherine could soon be adjusted as the country moves to align constituencies with the newly established parish of Portmore.
The Electoral Commission of Jamaica, ECJ, says it has begun stakeholder consultations as part of the process to review and realign electoral boundaries following the creation of Portmore as the country’s 15th parish.
The ECJ recently convened a joint meeting of the Parish Boundary Advisory Committee and the Parish Boundary Forum for Portmore and St. Catherine.
The session brought together about 70 participants, including political representatives, election officials and other stakeholders.
Proposed changes are expected to affect four constituencies – South East St. Catherine, East Central St. Catherine, South St. Catherine and South Central St. Catherine.
