Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association thanks Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ian Borg for the excellent collaboration, commitment and leadership shown during his tenure as Minister responsible for Tourism.
We wish him every success in his continued role as Deputy Prime Minister and in his new responsibilities as Minister for Health.
At the same time, MHRA warmly welcomes Dr Jo Etienne Abela as Malta’s new Minister for Tourism and looks forward to working closely with him to continue strengthening the sector and contributing to the country’s success.

MHRA welcomes this important initiative carried out in collaboration with the Malta Police Force, the Malta Tourism Authority, and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, through which six new electric Hyundai Kona vehicles have now been deployed across key touristic localities in Malta and Gozo.
This investment reflects the continued commitment towards strengthening safety, improving response capabilities, and supporting a more secure and welcoming environment for both residents and visitors.
The deployment of these eco-friendly vehicles in Sliema, Swieqi, Cottonera, Marsaxlokk, Paceville, and Gozo further reinforces the importance of strong collaboration between the tourism industry, public authorities, and law enforcement agencies in safeguarding Malta’s tourism product and community wellbeing.

The MHRA is seeking a proactive Operations & Administration Officer to join the team and support ongoing compliance with data submissions and payments through follow-up and engagement.
This is a hands-on, externally facing role suited to someone who is organised, detail-oriented and proactive. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving client participation, ensuring processes are followed and deadlines are consistently met.
📋Key Responsibilities
• Act as the primary point of contact for day-to-day queries and support
• Monitor periodic data submissions and actively follow-up on late or incomplete information
• Review payment and submission data and assist with basic reconciliations as required
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in submitted data and payments
• Maintain accurate records and internal tracking systems
• Escalate non-compliance where necessary
• Conduct regular follow-ups via phone to ensure timely submissions and payments
🔍 What We’re Looking For
• Experience in operations, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, or client-facing roles
• Strong organisational skills and a structured approach to follow-up
• Comfortable interacting directly with clients
• Confident, with the ability to be firm when required
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Comfortable making outbound calls and following up persistently where required
• Fluent in both Maltese and English

• Basic accounting knowledge

Today, the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association (MHRA) attended the official launch of the ITS Prospectus 2026–2027 held at the Institute of Tourism Studies in Malta, bringing together education leaders, tourism professionals, career guidance practitioners, and policymakers to discuss the future of tourism education and the evolving realities of the industry.
MHRA CEO Mr Andrew Agius Muscat was invited as a speaker during the event, contributing to discussions focused on the tourism industry, the rise of AI, future workforce preparation, and the importance of aligning education with the rapidly changing needs of the hospitality and tourism sectors.
The event was addressed by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Hon. Dr Ian Borg, and highlighted the growing importance of collaboration between industry, education, and institutions in shaping a stronger, more resilient, and future-oriented tourism sector.
MHRA remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen hospitality education, professional development, service excellence, innovation, and the preparation of future generations entering Malta’s tourism industry.
