⚡ Application for a New Substation in Senglea Approved
The Senglea Local Council welcomes with satisfaction the approval by the Planning Authority of the application for the construction of a new electricity substation in our locality.
On the 28th of July 2026, during the Local Council meeting under the Agenda No. 31/2026, a motion was unanimously approved to give full support to the submission of a new application for this project, following a series of power outages that affected our locality over the past few months.
The previous application had not been approved following objections raised by third parties. However, the Council remained firm in its belief that the interests of residents should be a priority and took the initiative to ensure that the project was resubmitted and moved forward.
Over the past few months, Mayor Clive Pulis continued to hold several meetings with Enemalta to ensure that this request was reconsidered. Today, we are pleased to announce that these efforts have resulted in the approval of the application.
This new substation will help strengthen the resilience of the electricity network, providing a more reliable service and greater peace of mind for Senglea residents and businesses.
We would like to thank Minister Miriam Dalli, Enemalta Chief Executive Officer Mr Ryan Fava, as well as the Corporation’s engineers and employees for their cooperation and hard work, particularly over the past few days.
The Senglea Local Council will continue working on projects that improve the quality of life of our residents in our locality. 💛❤️
