DSWD PRESS RELEASE: DSWD chief assures maximized social protection investments for 2027

Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary REX Gatchalian assured the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) that the DSWD will maximize the Philippine government’s investments in social protection by strengthening human capital development, improving programs to address socio-economic shocks, and ensuring that government assistance reaches the most vulnerable Filipinos.

“Social welfare is our first name but for the past four years, the President (Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.) has been wanting us to focus a lot on social development. Yung social development is about empowerment, and community activism, and community involvement,” the DSWD chief said on Wednesday (October 28) during his presentation at the Social Protection Reforms Dialogue, organized by the DBM under the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP). DSWD PRESS RELEASE: DSWD’s Guarantee Letters now accepted in 5 Southstar Drug branches in Quezon City

Clients of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program can now use their Guarantee Letters (GLs) to purchase medicines in five branches of Southstar Drug in Quezon City.

“We are now in the initial implementation of our partnership with Southstar Drug. As of today, five strategic branches across the National Capital Region (NCR) are now accepting guarantee letters. Conveniently located near our Commonwealth Satellite Office—where these letters are issued—these branches ensure that our beneficiaries can seamlessly receive their required medications without delay,” Undersecretary Romualdez said. DSWD, Nakaalerto sa Posibleng Pagpasok ng Super Typhoon sa Bansa 🌧️

Nakahanda ang DSWD sa posibleng epekto ng isang Tropical Cyclone na maaaring pumasok sa Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) sa susunod na linggo at lumakas bilang ganap na Super Typhoon.

Sa pinakabagong tala ng DSWD ngayong Sabado (Oktubre 17), nakaposisyon na sa iba’t ibang warehouse at Satellite Offices sa buong bansa ang 4,557,248 family food packs (FFPs), 344,942 non-food items (NFIs) at 206,675 ready-to-eat food (RTEF) boxes.

Bilang bahagi ng disaster preparedness ng Kagawaran at alinsunod sa direktiba ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., nakikipag-ugnayan ang DSWD sa mga lokal na pamahalaan at iba pang ahensya para mapalakas ang kahandaan at mapabilis ang pagtugon sa mga pamilyang maaaring maapektuhan.

Sa panahon ng tag-ulan, mahalaga ang paghahanda ng water filtration system o kagamitang panlinis ng tubig upang makatulong na matiyak ang pagkakaroon ng ligtas na inuming tubig para sa mga pamilyang apektado ng pagbaha, bagyo, at iba pang kalamidad.
Para sa DSWD, mahalaga ito bilang bahagi ng paghahanda sa disaster response at pagbibigay ng agarang serbisyong pantao, lalo na sa mga evacuation center at komunidad na nawalan ng access sa malinis na tubig.
