𝐃𝐓𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐆𝐈𝐏 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
In line with its commitment to provide hands-on internship experience and strengthen youth employability, led by Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, the Department of Labor and Employment – National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR), through its Makati-Pasay Field Office, participated in the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) Government Internship Program (GIP) Culmination and Recognition Ceremony on October 22, 2026, at DTI Academy, HPGV Building, Makati City.
The activity supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to enhance the employability of Filipino youth and expand their access to employment opportunities through meaningful work experience and career development—providing young individuals with practical work experience, professional skills, and exposure to public service
DTI Director IV of the Human Resource and Administrative Service (HRAS), Mr. Joel R. Cruz opened the ceremony by emphasizing that the program aims to provide interns with more than routine administrative tasks by helping them develop their skills and understand the responsibilities of public service.
“𝘖𝘶𝘳 𝘨𝘰𝘢𝘭 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦. DOLE-NCR Makati-Pasay Field Office Director Leonides P. Castillon Jr. commended DTI for its structured and comprehensive implementation of the program, expressing support for continued partnership, noting that the agency’s approach helps prepare interns for future responsibilities in government and cited the previous batch, in which 22 of 60 interns were absorbed into DTI.
“𝘋𝘛𝘐 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘋𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘓𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮. 𝘚𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵, 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘦” Director Castillon said.
For its 2026 implementation, DTI celebrated with 32 out of 50 youth assisted interns-their success and perseverance for the last six-month within the program.
Among the interns who received special awards, Brian I. Sumilie was the recipient of the 2026 Most Outstanding Intern Award.
“𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘺 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘐 𝘨𝘰,” Sumilie said, recognizing the lasting value of his six-month internship.
Moreover, the ceremony also highlighted the success of former GIP interns who have continued their careers in government. Francia Daphnie Marie E. Zuñiga, now a Trade Industry Development Analyst at DTI’s Export Marketing Bureau, shared how her internship helped prepare her for a permanent position.
Meanwhile, in a video message, Bianca Pearl R. Skyimte, Director of the Export Marketing Bureau and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Secretary, also reflected on her journey as a former GIP intern. She emphasized the importance of hard work, perseverance, and integrity, reminding the graduates that opportunities can come when they least expect them.
